McKalla station is a CapMetro Rail hybrid rail station in Austin, Texas, United States. The station was built to provide convenient access to Q2 Stadium. [4] Ground broke on construction on July 18, 2022, [5] and the new station opened on February 24, 2024, coinciding with the first home match of Austin FC's 2024 season. [6] [7] The station opened at 10:00 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with rides being free. [8] Construction costs were estimated at $13 million, [9] with total costs estimated at $60 million. The station is double-tracked, includes two regular service side platforms, with the southbound platform serving both northbound and southbound trains during special events [1] and a gated walkway to the east side of the tracks. [2] [3] Soon after opening of the new station, along with Broadmoor station to the north, nearby Kramer station is expected to be closed. [4] The station was designed and constructed by Stacy Witbeck. [3] Finishing touches for the station are expected to be completed in April or May 2024. [10]

CapMetro Rail is a hybrid rail system that serves the Greater Austin area in Texas and is owned by CapMetro, Austin's primary public transportation provider. The Red Line is CapMetro's first and currently only rail line, and connects Downtown Austin with Austin's northwestern suburbs. The line operates on 32 miles (51 km) of existing freight tracks, and serves 10 stations. After a series of delays, CapMetro Rail was inaugurated in March 2010. CapMetro added Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening regularly scheduled service on March 23, 2012. In 2023, the line had a ridership of 485,400, or about 1,800 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.

Project Connect is a transit expansion program by the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) in Austin, Texas, U.S. The program was approved by voters on November 3, 2020, in a local election concurrent with the 2020 presidential election.

Broadmoor station is a planned CapMetro Rail hybrid rail infill station in Austin, Texas. The station is being built to improve access to The Domain, a major high-density business, retail, and residential center. Construction was expected to begin in September 2020 with service starting in 2022, but was delayed until the station's groundbreaking on January 18, 2022, thereby pushing the opening date back to 2024. Upon opening of the new station as well as the new McKalla station at Austin FC's Q2 Stadium, the nearby Kramer station is expected to close. Brandywine Realty and the Charles Schwab Corporation contributed funds for the station's construction.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">CapMetro Bus</span> Public transit bus system in Austin, Texas

CapMetro Bus is the bus public transit service of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (CapMetro) of Austin, Texas and serves Austin and the surrounding areas. MetroBus services include 82 standard routes and 15 high-frequency bus routes as of August 2021. It has several categories of routes: Local, Flyer and Limited, Feeder, Crosstown, Special services and UT Shuttles. CapMetro also operates an express bus service, MetroExpress, and a bus rapid transit service, CapMetro Rapid, in addition to the agency's commuter rail service, CapMetro Rail. In 2023, the bus system had a ridership of 23,445,900, or about 74,400 per weekday as of the first quarter of 2024.

The Downtown Transit Tunnel was a planned light rail tunnel in Downtown Austin, Texas. It was a core feature of the proposed initial investment of Project Connect, the transit expansion plan being undertaken by the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The transit tunnel would have served the Orange, Blue, and (eventually) Gold light rail lines. The tunnel was eventually cut from Project Connect plans after unexpected cost increases and design challenges.
