The McKeesport Transportation Center is a bus, and formerly train, station located in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
The station was served by the PATrain commuter rail service between Versailles and Pittsburgh, and its predecessor, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad operated Pittsburgh - Mckeesport - Versailles commuter service. Amtrak's Capitol Limited began stopping in McKeesport in 1982.
PATrain service was discontinued in April 1989, and replaced by an express bus service from McKeesport. The Capitol Limited ceased to stop in 1991, and in the months prior an average of one passenger boarded at McKeesport per journey. [2]
The McKeesport Transportation Center has remained the primary transit hub of the greater McKeesport area. In response to significant cutbacks to routes in the region by the Port Authority of Allegheny County, Heritage Community Transportation began serving the station in 2014. [3]
In 2017 the complex underwent a $1 million redevelopment, which included demolition of aging structures, new road and parking surfaces, Port Authority driver rest facilities and new shelters. [4] [5]
The McKeesport Transportation Center is currently served by the Port Authority of Allegheny County and Heritage Community Transportation.
The current Port Authority routes are the 56 Lincoln Place, 61C McKeesport-Homestead and P7 McKeesport Flyer. [1] A number of additional routes stop kerbside on Lyle Boulevard. The current Heritage route serves a number of adjacent communities. [6]

The Capitol Limited is a daily Amtrak train between Washington, D.C., and Chicago, running 764 miles (1,230 km) via Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Service began in 1981 and was named after the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's Capitol Limited which ended in 1971 upon the formation of Amtrak. It carries the Amtrak train numbers 29 and 30, which were previously assigned to the discontinued National Limited.
Pittsburgh Regional Transit is the second-largest public transit agency in Pennsylvania and the 20th-largest in the United States. The state-funded agency is based in Pittsburgh and is overseen by a CEO and a board of unpaid volunteer directors, some of whom are appointed by the county executive and approved by the county council; and one each by the majority and minority leaders by each political party. The Delaware Transit Corporation, operating as DART First State, is the only public transportation system that operates throughout the U.S. state of Delaware. DART First State provides local and inter-county bus service throughout the state and also funds commuter rail service along SEPTA Regional Rail's Wilmington/Newark Line serving the northern part of the state. The agency also operates statewide paratransit service for people with disabilities. DART First State is a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT).
A large metropolitan area that is surrounded by rivers and hills, Pittsburgh has an infrastructure system that has been built out over the years to include roads, tunnels, bridges, railroads, inclines, bike paths, and stairways; however, the hills and rivers still form many barriers to transportation within the city.
The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) is the main transit agency for western Riverside County, California, United States. RTA provides both local and regional services throughout the region with 32 fixed-routes ,3 CommuterLink routes, Micro Transit in the Hemet San Jacinto area, and Dial-A-Ride services using a fleet of 339 vehicles. In the cities of Corona, Beaumont and Banning, RTA coordinates regional services with municipal transit systems. In Riverside, RTA coordinates with the city's Riverside Special Services, which provides ADA complementary service to RTA's fixed-route services.
The North Shore Connector is a light-rail extension opened in 2012 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The connector extends the Pittsburgh Light Rail system from its previous terminus at Gateway Center Station in the Central Business District to the new North Side Station and Allegheny Station on the North Shore by way of a tunnel under the Allegheny River. The Connector extends the light rail system's "Free Fare Zone", enabling passengers to ride to and from Pittsburgh's rapidly growing North Shore neighborhood for free.
The Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority is a public transportation service that is located in Washington County, Westmoreland County, and a small portion of Fayette County in Pennsylvania. It provides inter-city bus and paratransit service to select communities within the area.
Butler Transit Authority, also known as theBus or the BTA, is a public transportation service in Butler, Pennsylvania. The service provides local transit in central Butler County and commuter routes from Butler to Pittsburgh. The BTA operates a fleet of 12 buses. The service transports nearly a quarter million passengers annually.
Fayette Area Coordinated Transportation, known by the moniker of FACT, is a public transportation service located in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. It provides inter-city bus and paratransit service to select communities within the county. Because the region is located within the metropolitan area of Pittsburgh, four times per day service is provided to the Downtown Pittsburgh area. In 2009, the Connellsville-Uniontown Route was extended into Westmoreland County to the Countryside Plaza Shopping Center, near Mount Pleasant.
The PATrain, also known as Mon Valley Commuter Rail, was a commuter rail service owned by the Port Authority of Allegheny County in the Monongahela Valley in the US state of Pennsylvania. Service began in 1975 when the Port Authority assumed ownership of the Pittsburgh–McKeesport–Versailles commuter trains operated by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) with the support of PennDOT. The Port Authority discontinued the service in 1989.
Grant Street Station, also known as the B&O Pittsburgh Terminal, was a passenger rail station on Grant Street downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) announced plans for it on May 3, 1955, after selling the original B&O Station bordering the Monongahela River to the state for construction of Interstate 376. It opened in 1957 to serve commuter rail traffic; all intercity traffic continued to use the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad's (P&LE) station. However during the late 1950s the B&O ran a two-car (RDC'S) inter-city train to/from Washington DC. If traffic warranted, three units were used as a single train. They were nicknamed "Daylighters" because of their morning departures and late afternoon arrivals. Grant Street was the last such privately owned train station built in Pennsylvania.
SolTrans, officially Solano County Transit, is a Joint Powers Authority that provides public transportation service to the southern Solano County cities of Vallejo and Benicia. SolTrans was established in 2011 and is the result of a merger between Vallejo Transit and Benicia Breeze. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 954,200, or about 3,700 per weekday as of the second quarter of 2024.

The McKeesport Police Department, commonly referred to as McKeesport Police, is the primary law enforcement agency for the City of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The department employs over 50 officers, and serves an area of 6.47mi² and population of approximately 21,000, including the borough of Dravosburg. It is the second largest municipal law enforcement agency in Allegheny County.
The McKeesport Fire Department, officially the McKeesport Bureau of Fire, provides fire protection, all-hazards emergency response, and fire safety education to the City of McKeesport.
The Port Authority Police Department is a law enforcement agency in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is a transit police agency, authorized by Title 22, Chapter 33 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, which provides policing, investigation and crime prevention services to Port Authority of Allegheny County facilities, routes and services.
