Connellsville station is an Amtrak train station in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, United States. It is served by the daily Floridian .

History

The current station is the third station placed here. It was constructed during the winter of 2010-11 and cost $1.25 million. [2] Built primarily of dark red brick, the structure has an enclosed, one-story waiting room with large windows. From the outside, the waiting room is marked by projecting bays whose surfaces are covered in a rock-faced, coursed ashlar in a light beige tone. Developed by d+A design+Architecture of Yardley, Pennsylvania, the station design draws inspiration from historic late 19th and early 20th century depots found in small towns across the nation. It is similar to stations Amtrak has built in Okeechobee, Florida, Winnemucca, Nevada and Alliance, Ohio. In addition to the shelter, Amtrak installed a 550-foot (170 m) concrete side platform, signage and light poles. The new station is in the vicinity of the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station, which no longer stands. [3]

On November 10, 2024, the Capitol Limited was merged with the Silver Star as the Floridian. [4]

Miami station is a train station in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on the border of Miami and Hialeah. It is the southern terminus for Amtrak's Floridian and Silver Meteor trains. The station opened in 1978 to replace a 48-year-old Seaboard Air Line Railroad station. It is several blocks away from the Tri-Rail and Metrorail Transfer Station, but there is no direct connection between the two. The station was meant to be replaced in the mid-2010s by the Miami Intermodal Center next to the airport just to the south, but the platforms were too short. Negotiations are ongoing between Amtrak and FDOT.

The Richmond Staples Mill Road Amtrak station is located in unincorporated Henrico County, Virginia, about 5 miles (8 km) north of downtown Richmond. The station was designed by David Volkert and Associates, and was built in 1975 as a replacement for Main Street Station in downtown Richmond, which had been heavily damaged by flooding from Hurricane Agnes. At its opening, it also inherited trains that had called at Richmond's other former union station, Broad Street Station, with a bus connection to the short-lived Richmond–Ellerson Street Station. Although limited Amtrak service returned to Main Street Station in December 2003, Staples Mill Road remains the primary rail station for the Richmond area, and all Richmond trains make a stop there. Richmond Main Street Station only sees trains that terminate there or at Newport News, since the other trains bypass downtown Richmond to the west.
