Megacephalini is a tribe of big-headed tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae.
These genera belong definitively to the tribe Megacephalini, as they are groups often placed within the type genus Megacephala itself:
These genera are of less certain placement or status: [1]
Tiger beetles are a family of beetles, Cicindelidae, known for their aggressive predatory habits and running speed. The fastest known species of tiger beetle, Rivacindela hudsoni, can run at a speed of 9 km/h, or about 125 body lengths per second. As of 2005, about 2,600 species and subspecies were known, with the richest diversity in the Oriental (Indo-Malayan) region, followed by the Neotropics. While historically treated as a subfamily of ground beetles (Carabidae) under the name Cicindelinae, several studies since 2020 indicated that they should be treated as a family, the Cicindelidae, which are a sister group to Carabidae within the Adephaga.
Cylindera is a genus of tiger beetles native to the Palearctic, the Near East and northern Africa. It was a result of the breakup of the Cicindela genus, and the status of Cylindera as a genus or a subgenus of the genus Cicindela is in dispute.
Aniara sepulcralis is a species of beetle in the family Cicindelidae, the only species in the genus Aniara.
Megacephala is a small genus of beetles in the family Cicindelidae restricted to Africa; it was formerly a much larger genus, but its constituent species have been subsequently placed in other genera, primarily Tetracha, but also Grammognatha, Metriocheila, Phaeoxantha, and Pseudotetracha.
Megacephala australis is a species of tiger beetle in the subfamily Cicindelinae that was described by Chaudoir in 1865, and is endemic to Australia.
Roger Naviaux was a French entomologist known for his work on beetles.
Scaphinotus vandykei is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Sphaeroderus bicarinatus is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Carabus finitimus is a bluish-coloured species of beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in continental United States.
Scaphinotus cordatus is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Notiophilus intermedius is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Omophron solidum, the solid round sand beetle, is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Ellipsoptera cuprascens, the coppery tiger beetle, is a species of flashy tiger beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Neocicindela garnerae, the South island tiger beetle (native) (NZ), is a species of tiger beetle in the family Cicindelidae.
Helluonini is a tribe of flat-horned ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least 25 genera and around 200 species in Helluonini.
Licinini is a tribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least 4 genera and more than 130 described species in Licinini.
Zuphiini is a tribe of ground beetles in the family Carabidae.
Panagaeini is a tribe of hairy ground beetles in the family Carabidae. There are at least 3 genera and more than 30 described species in Panagaeini.
Anisodactylus caenus is a species of ground beetle in the family Carabidae. It is found in North America.
Pseudotetracha is a genus of tiger beetles in the family Cicindelidae, formerly included within the genus Megacephala, and endemic to Australia.
