The Mera (Lombard : Maira) is a river in Switzerland and Italy. Its source is near the Piz Mungiroi, in the Grisons, Switzerland. First, it flows east in the direction to Maloja Pass, then turns west through the Val Bregaglia (German : Bergell) and crosses the border to Italy in Castasegna (Dogana). It is joined by the Acquafraggia close to Piuro, and then turns south at Chiavenna, just before it receives the river Liro from the right at Prata Camportaccio. The Mera ends in Lake Como, near Sorico in the Province of Como.
The Adda is a river in North Italy, a tributary of the Po. It rises in the Alps near the border with Switzerland and flows through Lake Como. The Adda joins the Po a few kilometres upstream of Cremona. It is 313 kilometres (194 mi) long. The highest point of the drainage basin is the summit of la Spedla, at 4,020 metres (13,190 ft).

Breggia is a Swiss-Italian river. The springs are around the Monte Generoso and Monte d'Orimento in the Val d'Intelvi at an elevation of 1,389 metres (4,557 ft). It enters Swiss territory between Erbonne and Scudellate, and flows along the Muggio Valley until Chiasso/Vacallo, where it again enters Italian territory, in Maslianico. Breggia then drains into Lake Como, near Villa Erba between Como and Cernobbio at an elevation of 198 metres (650 ft).
Albigna Lake is a reservoir in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It is located in the municipality of Vicosoprano at an elevation of 2,163 metres (7,096 ft) on the southwest side of the Bregaglia valley, northeast of Pizzo Cacciabella. The lake has a surface area of 1.13 square kilometres. Its outflow, the Albigna River, is a left tributary of the Mera River.

The Liro is a torrente, or stream, in the north Italian Province of Como. The drainage basin is triangular in shape; its principal source lies on Monte Marmontana near the Swiss border and flows through the Valle San Iorio. The second source lies to the northeast on the slopes of Pizzo Martello and forms the Valle del Dosso. Near Dosso del Liro the stream receives the waters of the torrente Ronzone, which flows from Monte Duria through the Val d’Inferno. The Liro enters Lake Como at Gravedona.
The Liro is an Alpine torrente of the north Italian Province of Sondrio which rises near the Splügen Pass and the boundary with Switzerland. It runs the length of the Valle Spluga before joining the Mera from the right at Prata Camportaccio, a little southwest of Chiavenna. At the upper part of its course by Montespluga it forms a small reservoir, the Lago di Montespluga, elevation 1,901 metres (6,237 ft). It forms a second, and still smaller, lake at Isola.
The Lago di Mezzola is a small lake in the Italian region of Lombardy, measuring 5.9 km2 (2.3 sq mi).

The San Jorio Pass, located between the Lepontine Alps and the Lugano Prealps at an altitude of 2,012 metres (6,601 ft) above sea level, connects Garzeno in the Italian province of Como with Carena in the Swiss canton of Ticino. It thus offers a route between the shores of Lake Como and the valley of the Ticino river around Bellinzona.
