The song was written by Miranda Cooper, Brian Higgins and Niara Scarlett, and produced by Higgins and his production team Xenomania. Following Girls Aloud's formation on the ITV1 reality television show Popstars: The Rivals, "Sound of the Underground" was released 16 days later, on 16 December 2002. Commercially, it was an immediate success; it became the year's Christmas number one in the UK, spending four consecutive weeks atop the chart. It also reached number one in Ireland and peaked within the top forty in Australia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.

It was written during a drunk session, with lyrics being inspired about how a boy can make them feel good. "Real Groove" is a song by Australian singer Kylie Minogue from her fifteenth studio album, Disco (2020). The song was written by Minogue, Teemu Brunila, Nico Stadi and Alida Garpestad Peck, with a sense of optimism for days ahead during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brunila and Stadi also handled the production. It is a disco-pop song with house and R&B elements and features vocoders, a funk bass and post-disco synths. The lyrics see Minogue attempting to win an ex back. A new version, a duet with English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa entitled "Studio 2054 remix", was released on 31 December 2020 as the album's third single. The remix added William Bowerman as a producer with additional instrumentation and Lipa incorporating layered vocals and new lyrics.

Erin Vemby Anna Doyle, known professionally as Venbee, is an English musician. Her five singles, "Low Down", "Messy in Heaven", "Gutter", "Die Young" and "No Man's Land" charted on the UK Singles Chart at numbers 59, 3, 95, 73 and 61 respectively. She is a member of Loud LDN.

Loud LDN is a British collective of female and gender-expansive artists based in London. Formed in May 2022 by Coupdekat and Maisi as a WhatsApp group chat called Ladies Making Noise in London, the chat started off with ten members including Piri and Matilda Cole and later added Caity Baser, Venbee, Issey Cross, Charlotte Plank, and Bshp. The chat expanded into its own Instagram page and eventually into its own events before moving to Discord. One UK Singles Chart in 2023 featured five entries from Loud LDN members.

Andrew Goddard, known under the stage name Goddard., is a musician from Kettering, England. He is best known for his remix of Cat Burns's "Go", which charted at No. 2 on the New Zealand Singles Chart, and for featuring on Venbee's "Messy in Heaven", which charted at No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart.

"On & On" is a liquid drum and bass song by Piri & Tommy, from their mixtape Froge.mp3. Released on 28 July 2022 on Polydor Records, the track was written after the pair attended that year's Parklife Festival. The song premiered as BBC Radio 1's "Hottest Record"song charted at No. 99 on the UK Singles Chart and received positive reception, with Time Out, The Forty Five, NME, Dancing Bears, and Billboard rating it on their year-end best of lists. A music video was released on 12 October 2022 to promote Froge.mp3.
