Michael Peck (priest)

The Very Rev. Michael David Saville Peck (1914-1968) was Dean of Lincoln from 1965 to 1968. [1]

Peck was born on 7 January 1914, educated at King's College School, Cambridge, [2] Sedbergh and King's College, Cambridge [3] and ordained in 1937. [4] He was a Curate at Holy Cross, Greenford until 1946 and then Vice-Principal of St Chad's College, Durham until 1949. Later he was Vicar of St Mark's, Mansfield and then Archdeacon of Portsmouth before his elevation to the Deanery in 1965. He died in post on 22 April 1968. [5]

The Very Rev Edward Charles Wickham was Dean of Lincoln from 1894 to 1910. Born on 7 December 1834, he was educated at Winchester and New College, Oxford, being appointed a Probationary Scholar at 17 and eventually rose to be a Fellow. He was Headmaster of Wellington College from 1873 to 1893 before his appointment to the Deanery. He died on 18 August 1910.

The Very Rev Andrew Ewbank Burn, DD was an English clergyman in the Church of England, Dean of Salisbury from 1920 until his death in 1927.

Wilfred Marcus Askwith was the 2nd Bishop of Blackburn who was later translated to Gloucester. Born in Hereford and educated at Bedford School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge he was ordained in 1914. His first post was as Curate at St Helens Parish Church. After this he was a Master and Assistant Chaplain at his old school then Rector of Stalbridge. From 1925 to 1932 he was Chaplain to Europeans at Nakuru in Kenya. Returning to England he was Vicar of Sherborne then Rural Dean of Leeds before his elevation to the Episcopate. He died on 16 July 1962.
