Microtheca is a genus of Chrysomelinae (a subfamily of leaf beetles). [1]
Coreidae is a large family of predominantly sap-sucking insects in the Hemipteran suborder Heteroptera. The name "Coreidae" derives from the genus Coreus, which derives from the Ancient Greek κόρις (kóris) meaning bedbug.
The insect family Nabidae contains the damsel bugs. There are over 500 species in 20 genera. They are soft-bodied, elongate, winged terrestrial predators. Many damsel bugs catch and hold prey with their forelegs, similar to mantids. They are considered helpful species in agriculture because of their predation on many types of crop pests.
Carl Stål was a Swedish entomologist specialising in Hemiptera.
The Lygaeoidea are a sizeable superfamily of true bugs, containing seed bugs and allies, in the order Hemiptera. There are about 16 families and more than 4,600 described species in Lygaeoidea, found worldwide. Most feed on seeds or sap, but a few are predators.
Alydidae, commonly known as broad-headed bugs, is a family of true bugs very similar to the closely related Coreidae. There are at least 60 genera and 300 species altogether. Distributed in the temperate and warmer regions of the Earth, most are tropical and subtropical animals; for example Europe has a mere 10 species, and only 2 of these occur outside the Mediterranean region.
Ricaniidae is a family of planthopper insects, containing over 400 species worldwide. The highest diversity is in tropical Africa and Asia and in Australia, with a few species occurring in the Palearctic and Neotropical realms. It is one of the smaller families in the planthopper superfamily Fulgoroidea.
Heterogastridae is a family of lygaeoid bugs consisting of about 20 genera and more than 100 species.
Eucalyptus microtheca, commonly known as the coolibah or coolabah, is a species of tree that is endemic to northern Australia. It has rough, flaky or fibrous bark on the trunk and branches, lance-shaped adult leaves, flower buds in groups of seven, white flowers and spherical to conical fruit. It is widely distributed from the Kimberley region of Western Australia to Cape York in Queensland.
Pentatomini is a tribe of shield bugs in the subfamily of Pentatominae.
Coreini is a tribe of leaf-footed bugs in the family Coreidae. There are at least 20 genera and 70 described species in Coreini.
Calligrapha is a genus of large American Chrysomelinae of imprecise taxonomic boundaries. Most species occur in Central and South America.
Lygaeinae is a subfamily of ground bugs in the insect family Lygaeidae.
Chrysomelini is a tribe of leaf beetles in the family Chrysomelidae. There are over 150 described genera in Chrysomelini, variously arranged into subtribes, though the exact number and constituency of these subtribes is a source of ongoing debate.
Alydinae is a subfamily of broad-headed bugs in the family Alydidae. There are about 24 genera and more than 140 described species in Alydinae.
Rhyparochromini is a tribe of dirt-colored seed bugs in the family Rhyparochromidae. There are more than 40 genera and 360 described species in Rhyparochromini. Rhyparochromini originates from Italy.
Oxycarenidae is a family of true bugs in the order Hemiptera. There are more than 20 genera and 140 described species in Oxycarenidae.
Achilidae is a family of planthoppers, sometimes called "achilids" in the order Hemiptera. There are at least 520 described species in Achilidae.
Geocoridae is a family of big-eyed bugs in the order Hemiptera. There are more than 290 described species in Geocoridae.
Dicranocephalus is the sole genus of true bugs in the family Stenocephalidae. There are about 30 described species in the genus Dicranocephalus.
The Micrelytrinae are a subfamily of true bugs in the family Alydidae, based on the type genus Micrelytra Laporte, 1833. Genera are recorded from the Americas, Europe and Asia.
