Michael Joseph Ruth (born June 25, 1964) is an American former professional football defensive tackle. He played college football for the Boston College Eagles, where he won the Outland Trophy as college football's best lineman in 1985. [1] [2] After two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft, [3] he finished his professional football career with the Barcelona Dragons of the World League of American Football (WLAF) in 1991 and 1992. [4]

Ruth was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in December 2017. [5] He is the 10th former Boston College player or coach enshrined in the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame. [6]

Personal life

He later graduated from Harvard University with a M.Ed. and is now a teacher at Everett High School in Massachusetts. [7]

David Brian Rimington is an American former professional football player who was a center in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons during the 1980s. Rimington played college football for the University of Nebraska, where he was two-time consensus All-American and received several awards recognizing him as the best college lineman in the country. He was selected in the first round of the 1983 NFL draft and played professionally for the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL. He played college football for the Arizona Wildcats, twice earning consensus All-American honors, including a unanimous selection in 1993. Waldrop played professionally for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, and the Memphis Mad Dogs and Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

William Anton "Moose" Fischer was an American football lineman who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Cardinals, from 1949 to 1953. He was a first-round pick by the Chicago Cardinals in the 1949 NFL draft. With the Cardinals, he was invited to three Pro Bowls. He played college football at the University of Notre Dame, where he won two national championships, was twice named a consensus All-American in 1947, and 1948, and was awarded the Outland Trophy, as the nation's top lineman in 1948.
