Miller-Motte College is a chain of for-profit technical colleges throughout the southeastern United States. [1] In February 2020, Miller-Motte Technical College changed their name to Miller-Motte College. Its parent company is Ancora Education. [2]

History

Miller-Motte was founded in 1916, in Wilmington, North Carolina, as a small training facility for courtroom stenographers. Over the years, the college established other campuses in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. In 1998, the school was acquired by Delta Career Education Corporation [3] [4] It was sold to Ancora Education in 2018.

Accreditation

Miller-Motte is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges as branch campuses of Platt College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. [5] The Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology programs offered at several campuses are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) [6]

Miller-Motte operates campuses in seventeen Southern cities: Augusta, Georgia; Cary, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Clarksville, Tennessee; Columbus, Georgia; Macon, Georgia; Conway, South Carolina; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Greenville, North Carolina; Lynchburg, Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; Nashville, Tennessee; Raleigh, North Carolina; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Gulfport, MS. [1]

Online campus

In August 2009 Miller-Motte College launched a Bachelor of Science degree completion program, Miller-Motte College Online. The site offers four degree programs: Business Administration, Allied Health Management, Nursing, and Criminal Justice.

High school completion program

Miller-Motte funds a high school completion program offered by Penn Foster High School. [7]

Student outcomes

According to the College Scorecard, Miller Motte has a graduation rate of 21 to 53 percent depending on the campus. Salaries after attending range from $16,000 to $35,000 depending on the major. Two years after student loan repayment, student outcomes were: 30% in forbearance, 23% not making progress, 20% defaulted, 9% in deferment, 9% delinquent, 7% making progress, 1% discharged, and 1% paid in full. [8] According to the College Navigator, The three-year default rate is 26.2 percent. [9]

South University is a private university with its main campus and online operations in Savannah, Georgia, United States. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. South University is owned by Education Principle Foundation, a non-profit which also owns the Art Institutes.

McCann School of Business & Technology is a technical school with campuses in Monroe, Louisiana, Allentown, Pennsylvania, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and online. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

Wilmington University Private university in Delaware, United States

Wilmington University (WilmU) is a private university with its main campus in Wilmington Manor, Delaware, with a New Castle street address. It was founded in 1968 as Wilmington College by educator Dr. Donald Ross. As of 2016, the university served a total student body of 20,522 undergraduate and postgraduate students in nearly 100 degree and certificate programs. The university's programs are offered at its main campus in historic New Castle as well as at six additional campuses in Delaware, several partnership locations in New Jersey, and a single partnership location in northeastern Maryland.

Carolina University offers both residential and online programs including dual enrollment, undergraduate, and graduate degrees. It is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), and is a member of the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS).

Virginia College

Virginia College was a Private for-profit college located primarily in the southeastern United States. Virginia College offered classes, certificates, diplomas, and degrees related to specific professions such as health sciences, information technology, business, office management, and criminal justice. Virginia College also offered online degree programs.

Ross Medical Education Center is a for-profit allied-health school with 40 locations across seven states offering both campus and online programs. Ross has been an investment of JLL Partners since 2010.

ECPI University

ECPI University, or East Coast Polytechnic Institute, is a private, for-profit educational institution based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It provides undergraduate- and graduate-level education in an accelerated format. ECPI University has six colleges with campuses in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida, and provides courses online. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Southeastern Community College is a public community college with its main campus between Chadbourn and Whiteville, North Carolina. It was founded in 1964 and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees.

Cape Fear Community College College in Wilmington, North Carolina, U.S.

Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is a public community college in Wilmington, North Carolina. It enrolls nearly 23,000 students each year. The service area of Cape Fear Community College includes New Hanover and Pender counties with a main campus located in downtown Wilmington and satellite campuses in Castle Hayne, Burgaw, and Surf City.

Education Corporation of America, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, was a privately held company that operated proprietary colleges across the United States. Included were three schools with 31 campuses, plus one online school and four affiliated businesses. The schools abruptly announced their closing before next semester, after ECA was denied accreditation on December 4, 2018. Closings began on December 7.

Delta Career Education Corporation was a Virginia-based for-profit institution of higher learning that declared bankruptcy in 2018. Twenty one of its campuses were sold to Ancora Education. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of Gryphon Investors, through Gryphon Colleges Corporation (GCC).

South College is a private for-profit college with its main campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. It offers more than 80 programs and concentrations, including certificate, associate, bachelor's, master's, educational specialist, and doctoral programs.
