Miller-Motte College is a chain of for-profit technical colleges throughout the southeastern United States. [1] In February 2020, Miller-Motte Technical College changed their name to Miller-Motte College. Its parent company is Ancora Education. [2]

Miller-Motte was founded in 1916, in Wilmington, North Carolina, as a small training facility for courtroom stenographers. Over the years, the college established other campuses in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. In 1998, the school was acquired by Delta Career Education Corporation [3] [4] It was sold to Ancora Education in 2018.
Miller-Motte is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges as branch campuses of Platt College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. [5] The Medical Assisting and Surgical Technology programs offered at several campuses are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) [6]
Miller-Motte operates campuses in seventeen Southern cities: Augusta, Georgia; Cary, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Clarksville, Tennessee; Columbus, Georgia; Macon, Georgia; Conway, South Carolina; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Greenville, North Carolina; Lynchburg, Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; Nashville, Tennessee; Raleigh, North Carolina; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Wilmington, North Carolina; and Gulfport, MS. In August 2009 Miller-Motte College launched a Bachelor of Science degree completion program, Miller-Motte College Online. The site offers four degree programs: Business Administration, Allied Health Management, Nursing, and Criminal Justice.
Miller-Motte funds a high school completion program offered by Penn Foster High School. [7]
According to the College Scorecard, Miller Motte has a graduation rate of 21 to 53 percent depending on the campus. Salaries after attending range from $16,000 to $35,000 depending on the major. Two years after student loan repayment, student outcomes were: 30% in forbearance, 23% not making progress, 20% defaulted, 9% in deferment, 9% delinquent, 7% making progress, 1% discharged, and 1% paid in full. Education Corporation of America, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, was a privately held company that operated proprietary colleges across the United States. Included were three schools with 31 campuses, plus one online school and four affiliated businesses. The schools abruptly announced their closing before next semester, after ECA was denied accreditation on December 4, 2018. Closings began on December 7.
Delta Career Education Corporation was a Virginia-based for-profit institution of higher learning that declared bankruptcy in 2018. Twenty one of its campuses were sold to Ancora Education. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of Gryphon Investors, through Gryphon Colleges Corporation (GCC).
