Pervis Milroy Goes (born 3 September 1986), known better as Milroy Goes, is an Indian-born Portuguese film director and screenwriter. [1] [2] [3] [4] His film Welcome M1LL10NS [5] was eligible for the 91st Academy Awards in the Best Picture category [6] [7] but was not nominated in any categories. [8] [9] Goes is also known for directing music videos for A. R. Rahman's singer Shashaa Tirupati for major record labels in India.

Goes is the first to introduce digital cinema in Goa with his debut theatrical film The Victim . [10] He is also the co-founder of the premium café brand in Goa, Café Bom Gosto. [11]

Goes, on his Hollywood debut as Producer "Just Peachy" directed by Brittany Mcvicker. [12]

Early life

Goes is one of ten siblings born in his family. His parents are of Indian and Portuguese descent. [13] [14]

Career

In 2008, Goes's debut short film was screened at International Film Festival of India Chota Cinema. He was then mentored by a Frenchman, Anthony Coombs-Humpreys, and his wife Christine. Later under their mentorship he made a short film with a Bollywood actor Deepraj Rana. [3]

In 2012, his directorial debut in Konkani cinema was with the film The Victim . Goes also made an ad film with an Australian cricketer Brett Lee. He has directed music videos, one of which was featured on the channel VH1 India. [15] [16] [2] [17]

In 2015, while he was a jury member [18] for the first edition of the Goa Short Film Carnival by Goa Talkies, [19] his short film "Peon – Ek Chaprasi" was premiered on the closing day, and he was recognized by then chief minister of Goa, Laxmikant Parsekar. [20]

In early 2017, he assisted Suneil Anand and Navketan Films in making Hollywood Film Vagator Mixer filmed in Goa. [21] [22]

In 2017, he wrote and directed the feature film [6] WELCOME M1LL10NS [23] [24] and in 2018, [25] the film was released at Laemmle's Music Hall in Beverly Hills, California. [9] It went on to qualify for the 91st Academy Awards in the General Category. [26] [8]

In 2018, he was actively involved in social cause with an NGO in Goa, Human Touch Foundation, volunteering as a jury member for the short film competition Get High On Life. [27]

In January 2019, Goes continued to support the NGO for a good cause, volunteered to be part of a panel discussion at Men Against Violence and Abuse [28] in collaboration with the department of social work of Don Bosco College, Panaji and hosted the second edition of Samabhav, a travelling film festival in Panjim. [29]

Welcome M1LL10NS, also known as WELCOME MILLIONS, is a 2018 Indian suspense thriller film directed and written by Milroy Goes and produced by Manna Mohie under Manna Mohie Films. The film is set in Goa and tells of the journey of a lazy cop finding a smart criminal. The victim suffers the aftermath, hoping to someday get justice. It is a multi-lingual film featuring Joanne Da Cunha, Sohan Borcar, Les Menezes, and Manna Mohie. It has a post-credit scene filmed in Los Angeles featuring American actress Kathryn Michelle.

Caridade Damaciano Fernandes was a prolific Konkani-language novelist and a pioneer of prose fiction writing in that language. He has been called "the father of Konkani novels". Caridade Damacian died on October 7, 1948, but yet his legacy is still remembered and celebrated.

Amori is a 2019 Konkani drama film based on water conservation and a nexus between politicians and builders. The film is directed by Dinesh P. Bhonsle, written by R M Vardhan, and produced by Opus Gala. Schubert Cotta has composed the music. It stars Salil Naik, Sobita Kudtarkar, Mayur Mayekar, Prashanti Talpankar, Tanmay Kharpe, and Shaina Mirashi. In 2019, the film bagged the Best Konkani Film award in the feature film category, at 66th National Film Awards.
