The Mirwais Nika 3-Day Tournament is the domestic first-class cricket competition in Afghanistan and is organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).It became an official title in 2019. History

The inaugural season of Mirwais Nika provincial three-day tournament starts from 15 February in Nangarhar’s Ghazi Amanullah Khan International Cricket Stadium and Kunar’s Cricket Ground.

The teams that are set to participate in this tournament will represent their respective zones in the competition. They qualified based on their performance in the recently concluded two-day tournament.

These teams are Kunduz from Amo zone, Kandahar from Bost zone, Kunar from Speenghar zone, Khost from Mis-e-Ainak zone and Kabul from Band-e-Amir zone.

Each team will comprise of three players from their respective zone’s first class teams and top performers from the two-day tournament. The teams will also include one fast bowler each selected from the fast bowling hunt programme under ACB’s game development department. The hunt was organized in three stages as 18 aspiring fast bowlers were shortlisted for further camps.

The inaugural season of Mirwais Nika provincial three-day first class tournament starts from 15 February till 12 March 2019 ahead of this year’s Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day First Class Tournament.

Competition format

The competition is contested in a double-round-robin format, with each team playing every other team twice, i.e. home and away. Points are awarded based on wins, draws, ties and bonus points for runs and wickets in a team's first 100 batting and bowling overs, with the top two teams playing a final at the end of the season. Regular matches last for three days; the final lasts for four days.

2019 season

The 2018–19 Mirwais Nika Provincial 3-Day was the first edition of the Mirwais Nika Provincial 3-Day tournament, a first-class cricket competition in Afghanistan, that ran from 15 February to 15 March 2019. [9] [3] The five competing provincial sides were representing their regions after having come through regional qualifying events.In the final, the match finished as a draw, with Kabul Province declared as the winner, after taking a first innings lead.

2022 season

The 2nd edition of the Mirwais Nika Regional Three-Day Tournament is set to begin on June 1, 2022. The event features 5 regional teams which are scheduled to compete in a round-robin format at two venues in Kandahar province.

A total of 11 games will be played in the tournament across 25 days from June 1 to 25. Mis Ainak, Band-e-Amir, Amo, Bost and Speen Ghar are the 5 regional participating teams that will play once against each other in the round-robin stage, with the top two advancing to the final. The competitions are considered to be quite important in terms of producing new talents and contributing to the development of the game in the country. [10] [11]

The Mirwais Nika Regional three-day event is the 3rd of many domestic events that are included in the domestic cricket plan for the year and will be followed by first-class and List-A events later in the year.

2023 season

The 3rd edition of the Mirwais Neka Regional Three-Day Tournament is set to begin on May 28 in Nangarhar Province. The event features 5 regional teams which are scheduled to compete in a round-robin format at two different venues in Nangarhar province.

A total of 11 games will be played in the tournament across 23 days from May 28 to June 17. Mis-e- Ainak, Band-e-Amir, Amo, Bost and Speen Ghar are the 5 regional participating teams that will play once against each other in the round-robin stage, with the top two advancing to the final, which is staged for June 17–19 in Ghazi Amanullah Khan Cricket Stadium, Nangarhar.

The competition is considered to be quite important in terms of producing new talents and contributing to the development of the game in the country.

The Mirwais Nika Regional three-day event is the 5th of many domestic events that are included in the domestic cricket plan for the year and will be followed by first-class and List-A events later in the year.

Five regional teams competed in a double round-robin tournament with the top two teams in the group progressing to the final.

Kunar Cricket Ground is a cricket ground situated on the banks of the Kunar River at Asadabad in Kunar Province.

Pakhtoon Sarfaraz is an Afghan cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Kunar Province in the 2018–19 Mirwais Nika Provincial 3-Day tournament on 15 February 2019. He made his List A debut for Nangarhar Province in the semi-finals of the 2019 Afghanistan Provincial Challenge Cup tournament on 7 August 2019. He made his Twenty20 debut on 9 September 2020, for Mis Ainak Knights in the 2020 Shpageeza Cricket League.

The 2019 season of the Shpageeza Cricket League was the sixth edition of the Shpageeza, a professional Twenty20 cricket (T20) league established by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in 2013, and the second edition to have official T20 status. The tournament featured the six regional teams that played in the previous season. The event took place between 9 and 18 October 2019, with the Alokozay Kabul International Cricket Ground hosting all the matches. The number of overseas players participating was significantly reduced from the previous edition, with the subsequent launch of the Afghanistan Premier League making that the main franchise Twenty20 league run by the ACB.

The 2020 Shpageeza Cricket League was the seventh edition of the Shpageeza Cricket League, a professional Twenty20 cricket (T20) league established by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in 2013, and the third edition to have official T20 status. Following a request to the Ministry of Public Health due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament was given approval in July 2020 to take place. The ACB also confirmed that it was their priority to run a successful tournament.

It was the fourth edition of the competition to be played with List A status, following the announcements by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in February and May 2017. The 2021 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament was a List A cricket competition that was played in Kandahar, Afghanistan between 15 and 29 October 2021. It was the fifth edition of the competition played with List A status, following the announcements by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in February and May 2017. Mis Ainak Region were the defending champions.

The 2022 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament was the fifth edition of the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, a first-class cricket tournament in Afghanistan that was played in October and November 2022. The tournament consisted of a round-robin played across two venues, with the first five matches played at the Ghazi Amanullah International Cricket Stadium in Nangahar Province and the remaining five matches and the final played at the Khost Cricket Stadium. Band-e-Amir Region are the defending champions. Five regional teams competed in the tournament.

The 2021 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament was an edition of the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament, a first-class cricket tournament in Afghanistan that was played in November and December 2021. Band-e-Amir Region won the title for the third time, defeating Amo Region by 7 wickets in the final. Boost Region's score of 864/9 against Speen Ghar Region was the highest score since the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament gained first-class status, and was the 14th highest total in any first-class cricket.

The 2023 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament was a List A cricket competition that was played in Afghanistan between 29 October and 20 November 2023. It was the Sixth edition of the competition played with List A status, following the announcements by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in February and May 2017. Mis Ainak Region were the defending champions.Bost Region win the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional List A Tournament 2023.

The 2023 Mirwais Nika 3-day Regional was 3rd edition of the Mirwais Nika 3-Day Tournament, a first-class cricket competition in Afghanistan.The season started on 28 May and finished on 20 June 2023.Band-E-Amir Region were the defending champions, in the Final Mis Ainak Region win the 2023 Season
