The Champions Pentagular is a domestic first-class cricket competition in Pakistan. between the five champions teams organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that forms part of the Pakistan domestic cricket season.The tournament schedule to feature the country's 150 best of the best cricketers. The first edition of tournament scheduled to be held in 2024–25 season. [1] [2]

History

In August 2024, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has introduced three new competitions namely The Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup and Champions First-Class Cup as a part of the 2024-25 domestic season to provide a tougher, more competitive and high-pressure cricket playing environment in the country. [3] [4]

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is a domestic first-class cricket competition in Pakistan. With few exceptions, it has been staged annually since it was first played during the 1953–54 season. Domestic cricket in Pakistan has undergone many reorganisations, with the number of teams and matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy changing regularly. It has been variously contested by associations or departments, or a combination of the two. Since 2019 it has been contested by regional teams only.

The history of cricket in Pakistan predates the creation of the country in 1947. The first international cricket match in what is now Pakistan today was held in Karachi on 22 November 1935 between Sindh and Australia. The match was seen by 5,000 Karachiites. Cricket was introduced by the British during their colonial rule of British India, which covered the area now known as Pakistan. Cricket is the most popular sport in the country. The Pakistan Cricket Board controls all domestic cricket in Pakistan and the national teams. Pakistan is an official member of the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council. Regarded as one of the best and most passionate cricketing nations, Pakistan has won the Cricket World Cup in 1992, ICC T20 World Cup in 2009, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2004 and 2006, the ACC Asia Cup in 2000 and 2012. Pakistan were runner ups in the 1999 Cricket World Cup and 2007 and 2022 T20 World Cups. Pakistan have also been runner ups in several Asia Cup editions.

Hammad Azam is a Pakistani-born cricketer who plays in the Major League Cricket. Before his retirement in July 2023, he played for Pakistan national cricket team between 2011 and 2015. He is a right-handed batman and a right-arm medium fast bowler.

It was the 19th season of the National T20 Cup, with the tournament starting from 30 August 2022 and the final being played on 19 September 2022. In August 2022, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the fixtures of the tournament. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were the defending champions.
