There were three Modern pentathlon events at the 2018 South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia. One for men, one for women and one mixed. The events were held between June 6 and 8 at the Coliseo Suramericano. [1] All countries competing in each individual event had the right to enter athletes for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru in the respective events. [2]

Modern pentathlon competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing were held on August 21 and August 22 at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, Ying Tung Natatorium (swimming), and the Olympic Green Convention Center. Modern pentathlon contained five events; pistol shooting, épée fencing, 200 m freestyle swimming, show jumping, and a 3 km cross-country run.
The modern pentathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place in 2021 at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza and Ajinomoto Stadium.
Modern pentathlon competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held on July 18 and 19 at the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House, where a temporary show jumping ring, pistol shooting range and cross-country course was constructed to host the final round of fencing, jumping and combined events. A total of two events was contested.

Cuba competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cuban delegation was their smallest since 1964, which coincidentally was also in Tokyo. It was the nation's twenty-first appearance at the Summer Olympics. Cuba improved on its 2016 result, by winning 7 gold and 15 total medals after 5 and 11 in Rio.
The modern pentathlon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris took place during 8 to 11 August 2024 at the Palace of Versailles and the Arena Paris Nord. The Palace of Versailles hosted all the modern pentathlon events, with the only exclusion being the fencing ranking rounds, which occurred at the North Paris Arena. Two events were contested, one for men and another for women.
Modern pentathlon competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile were held between October 21 and 27, 2023 at the Las Condes Military School.
