History

Following the success of their March 2017 debut album Season of Light the band spent much of 2017 touring as support for various national acts such as A Day to Remember, Flaw, Trapt, DOPE, Twiztid, Drowning Pool, Texas Hippie Coalition, and music festivals such as Blue Ridge Rock Festival and Carolina Rebellion. [3]

The creation of Moments: Red started in November 2017 when the band began writing and tracking demos for new music. [4] Work on new music came to a brief pause in March 2018 when bassist Colt Crevar announced his departure from the band to join a new band, A Light Divided.

Work commenced in May 2018 after announcing the hiring of their new bass player Lawrence “Lo” West. Following the band getting back to work on new music, on May 31, 2018 the band announced they signed their first record deal with newly-founded label Bunker Hill Records based in Charlotte.

In June 2018 the band announced they would be releasing a new single titled “The Hill” on July 13, 2018 and it would serve as the lead single for a project being released at the end of the year. An official music video for The Hill directed by director Justin Beasley was also announced to premiere the day of its release. [5]

On January 19, 2019 the band announced via their social media pages they will be releasing a new series of two EPs, titled “Moments: Red” and “Moments: Blue”. Tracklisting was revealed the same day which confirmed Moments: Red will feature their 2018 single The Hill, and a second promotional single titled Fever Dream was released on January 21, 2019. [6]

Released on February 1, 2019, Moments: Red served as the first installment in a two-part EP series. [7] Its counterpart, Moments: Blue, being released exactly one month later on March 1, 2019. The release of Moments: Red was celebrated with an EP release party at The Fillmore Underground in Charlotte where the band performed live, engaging directly with their fanbase and marking a successful debut under their new label. The EP was recorded in their nearby hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina during the latter half of 2018, with the band members themselves taking on the role of producers to maintain their creative autonomy.

Singles

The EP featured three singles "The Hill", Fever Dream, and a re-recorded version of their 2017 single “Rise" which received significant attention after being featured in Dragon Ball Super on Crunchyroll, amassing over four million views. Rise was also included in a commercial for the Nickelodeon series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Equalizer, Black Ink Crew , Becoming , Forged in Fire and the PlayStation game Armored Warfare: Global Assault. Promotion

In the lead-up to the release of 'Moments: Red, the EP was promoted heavily by the band members on their personal social media profiles as well as music streaming services as well as significant promotion from Bunker Hill Records. [10]
