Moondru Per Moondru Kadal is the soundtrack album for 2013 Indian Tamil-language romance film of the same name starring Arjun, Cheran, Vimal, Surveen Chawla, Muktha Bhanu and Lasini. The film features music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Vasanth hired him as the composer, with whom he had previously worked in Poovellam Kettuppar (1999) and his last project Satham Podathey (2007).

Development

In an interview, the director stated that Yuvan Shankar Raja had put in about seven months of work for this film, while describing the genre of the soundtrack as post-modern music. The soundtrack album features six songs with lyrics penned by Na. Muthukumar.

Composing was started even before the film was launched, with the first song being recorded on 9 August 2011. Popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam originally sang the melody titled "Mazhai Mazhai Mazhaiyo Mazhai", which was recorded in Mumbai. [1] The final version, however, featured Karthik's vocals. Neha Bhasin, who had sung the well received song "Pesugiren" in Satham Podathey before, lent her voice for another song in the album. [2] Nandini Srikar of Ra.One fame crooned a solo "Aaha Kadhal", which, too, was recorded in Mumbai, [3] while composer Ramesh Vinayagam sang a peppy number titled "Stop the Paatu" for the album. [4] A teaser trailer of "Stop The Paatu" was released online in September 2012 and garnered positive response. [5] The composer himself performed the song "Unakkagave" which was dubbed as the first dubstep track in Tamil cinema. Yuvan Shankar Raja later revealed that he had not composed a single new tune for the film, but that all were stock songs he had earlier recorded which were chosen by Vasanth. [6] The final mixing was done by Kausikan Sivalingam in Berlin, according to Vasanth. [7]

Release

The album was launched in a critically acclaimed event on 25 January 2013 at the Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai. [8] The entire cast and crew of the film, besides noted film personalities, including directors K. Balachander, K. S. Ravikumar, K. Bhagyaraj, N. Lingusamy, Sasi and actors Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Khushbu, Krishna, Prakash Raj were present at the function which was host by television anchors Ma Ka Pa Anand and Divyadarshini. [9] The songs from the album were also performed live on stage by the original artists. [8]

Reception

The album received positive critical response. Milliblog wrote "Vasanth and Yuvan’s combination continues to rock!. [10] Indiaglitz wrote "A good collection of songs at the end of the year, almost appears as if it has been picked out of good songs". [11] Behindwoods wrote "Overall, the album might have been described as ‘post-modern’ by the director,[sic] Yuvan Shankar Raja does things his own way, and does it mighty good". [12] S. Saraswathi from Rediff wrote "Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is the only saving grace of an otherwise ordinary film. Every song has its own unique flavour and is incredible" and described the music as "exceptional". [13] Sify stated "Yuvan Shankar Raja`s music and background score is terrific with right mixture of melodies and fast numbers with `Aaha Kathal` and `Mazhai Mazhai` being the pick of the lot". [14]

The film, which is based on a true incident, has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, which received rave reviews. The film was released on 14 September 2007 to positive reviews.

Kadhal 2 Kalyanam is an unreleased Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by newcomer Milind Rau that stars debutante Sathya, brother of Tamil actor Arya, and Ramya, whilst, Jayashree, Nagendra Prasad, Kasthuri and Anuja Iyer play pivotal roles. Noted film critic Baradwaj Rangan had written the dialogues, while Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's score and soundtrack. The cinematography and editing were handled by P. S. Vinod and Leo John Paul, respectively. Pre-production works began by mid-2008, while the filming continued for over one year, being completed by July 2010. The film was jointly produced by Mirchi Movies and East Coast Entertainment, who are now not in the film-making business. Hence the movie remains unreleased.

Yuvan – Live in Concert is a concert by Indian musician Yuvan Shankar Raja. The concert, Yuvan's second in his career, took place on Pongal, 16 January 2011 at the YMCA Grounds, Nandanam, Chennai. Following the announcement, popular Tamil television STAR Vijay agreed to collaborate, sponsoring, organising and marketing the concert, while airing a special television series about Yuvan Shankar Raja, with family members and prominent celebrities closely associated to him participating, besides producing a promotional music video, titled "I'll be there for you". The five-hour show, which was attended by 20,000 people, including several noted film personalities, was received very positively and considered a highly successful event. The concert was aired on 11 and 12 February, Friday and Saturday at 2000 hrs on Vijay TV.

"En Kadhal Solla" is a song from the 2010 Tamil film Paiyaa, composed and performed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The song, with lyrics by Na. Muthukumar, was released as part of the soundtrack album of the film on 12 February 2010. The lover sings desperately to himself unable to express his love, the video is picturized on the lead actors Karthi and Tamannaah Bhatia. The song was a very popular chartbuster, which stayed in the charts up to 10 months, and in the Radio Mirchi charts even one year after its release. The song played a substantial role in the film's success as did other songs from the album.

Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Elan in his directorial debut, and produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja, under the banner YSR Films, who also composed music for the film. Co-produced by S. N. Rajarajan under the banner K Productions. The film stars Harish Kalyan and debutant Raiza Wilson. The film marked the first project of both the lead actors, after rising to fame from the television series Bigg Boss Tamil. Anand Babu, Pandian, Rekha, Ramadoss and Subbu Panchu appear in supporting roles. The film's cinematography was handled by Raja Bhattacharjee, with editing done by S. Manikumaran. The film was launched in December 2017, along with the commencement of principal photography, and was completed in June 2018. The film was released on 10 August 2018, to a positive response from the audience as well as critics, praising the lead actors' performances, the screenplay, and the film's soundtrack.
