Mort aux Vaches is the name of a series of albums released by the Staalplaat record label in collaboration with the Dutch radio station, VPRO. The name translates literally from French as “Death to Cows,” with “cows” being French slang for cops - it is equivalent to “Death to Pigs” in English.

Radical Computer Music

Radical Computer Music is a concept developed by the Danish experimental composer Goodiepal referring to, fundamentally, music notated not by computer networks but for computer networks, as a gesture towards the machine and the artificial intelligence expected to develop from it. Goodiepal coined the term while he was a teacher of composition at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, between 2004 and 2008, and he especially developed the project Mort Aux Vaches Ekstra Extra, which is a compositional game scenario questioning the role of the composer, time, notation and media, to thoroughly demonstrate the concept.

The album was followed up in January 2015 by Live in Tabačka 13/04/12, which was recorded live the day before Cuts in Slovakia. Cuts of Guilt, Cuts Deeper, a studio album recorded with the addition of Thurston Moore, was released in March 2015.

Merzbow, Gustafsson, and Pándi have frequently played together as a trio, and released the album Cuts in 2013. Merzbow and Gustafsson also played together with Moore on the Sonic Youth album SYR8: Andre Sider Af Sonic Youth.
