Hanakisasage (花木大角豆) is the Japanese name for Catalpa speciosa , a catalpa tree native to the United States. The cover photos were taken at the Koishikawa Botanical Gardens, which is one of the few places in Japan with a Catalpa speciosa. "Kakapo 2" follows the album Kakapo .

The theme was suggested by the owner of the label, who visited the Care for Cows charity in Vrindavan, India, which takes care of abandoned cattle. The music is intended to be "warm and organic", and was made using granular synthesis, oscillators, and tone generators.
