Chirk is a town and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, 10 miles south of Wrexham, between it and Oswestry. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 4,468. Historically in the traditional county of Denbighshire, and later Clwyd, it has been part of Wrexham County Borough since a local government reorganisation in 1996. The border with the English county of Shropshire is immediately south of the town, on the other side of the River Ceiriog.
St Clears on the River Tâf in Carmarthenshire, Wales, is both a small town and a community. At the 2011 census, the population was 2,995. The community includes the small settlements of Bancyfelin and Pwlltrap. It is bordered by the Carmarthenshire communities of, Meidrim, Newchurch and Merthyr, Llangynog, Laugharne Township, Llanddowror, Eglwyscummin, Llanboidy and Llangynin.

The Wrexham and Minera Railway or Wrexham and Minera Branch was a railway line in North Wales between the city of Wrexham, the village of Brymbo where it served the Brymbo Steelworks, and the lead mines and limeworks at Minera. A further branch ran from Brymbo to Coed Talon, where it connected with lines to Mold. The system was constructed in several stages between 1844 and 1872, while the various lines making up the system closed in 1952, 1972 and 1982.
Ton Pentre is a village in the Rhondda Valley in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Historically part of Glamorgan, Ton Pentre, a former industrial coal mining village, is a district of the community of Pentre. The old district of Ystradyfodwg was named after the church at Ton Pentre. Ton Pentre is, perhaps, best known for an event in 1924, when the Duke of York played a round of golf with Trade Unionist Frank Hodges.

Broughton is a community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It has an area of 469 hectares and had a population of 6,498 in the 2001 census, increasing to 7,454 at the 2011 Census. The area is dominated by the Moss Valley, which was known for its coal mining. Today it is operated as a country park, and there is a golf course of the same name in the vicinity.
Tynewydd is a village located in the County Borough of Rhondda Cynon Taf, south Wales. With Treherbert, Blaencwm, Blaenrhondda and Pen-yr-englyn it is part of a community of Treherbert. The village lies in the former industrial coal mining area at the head of Rhondda Fawr, the larger of the Rhondda Valleys.
Llanrhaeadr-yng-Nghinmeirch is a village and local government community in Denbighshire, Wales, including the villages of Llanrhaeadr and Pentre Llanrhaeadr and several hamlets, including Saron, Pant Pastynog, Prion, Peniel and part of Mynydd Hiraethog. It lies in the Vale of Clwyd near the A525 road between Denbigh and Ruthin. It was also known under the anglicised spellings of Llanrhaiadr in Kinmerch in the nineteenth century, and Llanrhaiadr yn Cinmerch, officially until 6 September 1968. The Community population taken at the 2011 census was 1,038.

It ran from a junction with the Wrexham and Minera Railway at Moss Valley Junction to Moss Halt via three intermediate stations: Gatewen Halt, Pentre Broughton Halt, and Gwersyllt Hill Halt.

Moss Platform railway station was a station in Moss, Pentre Broughton, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 1 May 1905 and closed on 1 January 1931.
Rhos railway station was a station in Rhosllannerchrugog, Wrexham, Wales on the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway. It was located in a remote spot almost a mile to the east of Rhosllannerchrugog, to the south of a road overbridge which carried Corkscrew Lane, in Pentre Bychan, over the line. The station was opened on 14 October 1848 and closed in March 1855. No trace of this station remains today.
