The objectives of the MAA include the resolution of issues related to artists, arbitration of disputes between the producers and artists, and initiation of measures covering the well-being of the MAA members. During the initial days of the organization, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishnam Raju, Krishna, Murali Mohan, extended their services as advisors. [3] Before the full-fledged formation of the MAA, its functions were operated from the residence of Murali Mohan for a few months.

The MAA is currently administered from the AP Film Chamber of Commerce Building located at Film Nagar, Hyderabad, Telangana and the current president is Vishnu Manchu who won MAA election in October 2021 over Prakash Raj. [4] [5]

On 23rd March 2024, MAA President Vishnu Manchu hosted an event at Park Hyatt Hyderabad, marking 90 years of Telugu cinema. The event, 'Navatīhi Utsavam', highlighted Telugu cinema's global impact and Indo-Malaysian relations. Notable attendees included MAA President Vishnu Manchu, Vice President Madala Ravi, Treasurer Siva Balaji, Advisor Datuk P Kamalanathan, and Razaidi Abdul Rahim from Tourism Malaysia, emphasizing the event's significance for both industries. [6] Scheduled for July 2024 in Malaysia, the event aims to raise funds for MAA's charitable causes. [7]

History

The Telugu film industry has a 30-year history [8] associated with the welfare of its artists. [9] The Movie Artists Association was established in 1993, [10] with only 100 members and is now a vibrant organization in the Indian film industry, with a membership of close to 1000, a phenomenon in three decades. [11]

Movie Artists Association, was formed with the objective of providing support and welfare to the artists and technicians working in the film industry. [12] The MAA's elections in October 2021 drew the attention of the Telugu people worldwide. Vishnu Manchu was elected the president. During his time, Vishnu has brought in many changes to the MAA.

With rapid changes in the Indian film making and interplay and teamwork of artists, the MAA has proposals to coordinate with the Bollywood, Kollywood, Mollywood, Sandalwood and other associations of Indian film fraternity to sign memoranda of understanding on aspects covering mutual membership drives.
