Muraena augusti is a moray eel found on the eastern Atlantic ocean on waters surrounding the archipelagos of the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands and Cape Verde (collectively known as Macaronesia). [3] It was described by Johann Jakob Kaup in 1856, originally under the genus Thyrsoidea . [3] It is non-migratory, and dwells at a depth range of 0 to 250 metres (0 to 820 ft), most often at around 0 to 50 metres (0 to 164 ft). [3]
