According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 62.1 square miles (160.9 km2), of which 61.8 square miles (160.2 km2) is land and 0.3 square mile (0.7 km2) (0.43%) is water.
As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 275 people, 116 households, and 77 families residing in the town. The population density was 4.4 people per square mile (1.7/km2). There were 162 housing units at an average density of 2.6 per square mile (1.0/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.18% White, 0.73% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.36% of the population.
