Maria Luisa Ramsey Kagahastian, known professionally as Jaya, is a Filipino singer, actress, and television personality. Referred to as the country's "Queen of Soul", she is known for her distinctively deep voice and soulful singing style. She was a talent of GMA Network but later transferred to ABS-CBN, where she served as one of the head jury of the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of the Philippine noontime variety show It's Showtime and performer on ASAP. Jaya is the second Filipino recording artist to chart in the United States, with her debut single "If You Leave Me Now" peaking at number 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez is a Filipino singer and actress. She is considered one of the most influential figures in Philippine popular culture and is known for her vocal range and belting technique. She had unorthodox voice training during her childhood, where she was immersed neck-deep in the sea. Velasquez rose to prominence after winning the television talent show Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984 and the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989. Under the name Chona, she signed a recording contract with OctoArts International in 1986 and released the single "Love Me Again", which was commercially unsuccessful. R2K is the tenth studio album by Filipino singer-actress Regine Velasquez, released on November 24, 1999, by Viva Records in the Philippines in CD and cassette format and later as a digital download. The album is Velasquez's second from Viva Music Corporation after Drawn. It consists of various covers of hits from the 1980s such as Jeffrey Osborne's "On the Wings of Love" to the 1990s such as Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". The album was produced by Velasquez and sold more than 40,000 copies in its second week of release, earning a platinum certification, and was certified four times platinum a year later. R2K has since been certified twelve times platinum, becoming the highest-selling album by a female artist in the Philippines.
Retro is the eighth studio album by Filipino singer-actress Regine Velasquez, released in 1996 through PolyGram Records. The album contains new arrangements of songs from the 1970s and 1980s such as Andy Gibb's "I Can't Help It", a duet with Remus Choy of Grasshopper, Melissa Manchester's "Through the Eyes of Love" and Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is". Velasquez also did an acoustic version of Orleans's "Dance With Me" as a duet with her mother, Teresita Velasquez. Although most of the songs are remakes there are two songs with original content.

In 1982, she was proclaimed winner of the Dream Girl Filipina contest on The Party, a television program hosted by Ariel Ureta over the now-defunct Banahaw Broadcasting Corporation. Albert became a member of The New Minstrels, a popular Philippine show band during the 1970s and the 1980s. Apart from Albert, The New Minstrels also produced many other outstanding Filipino musical artists.

The album was certified Platinum by PARI with sales of 15,000 physical CD copies and digital album copies sold. The album consists of 30 songs.
