Nadine Apetz (born 3 January 1986) is a German amateur boxer. She won bronze medals at the World Championships in 2016 and 2018, and gold at the 2017 EU Championships. In 2021, she became the first German woman to qualify for a boxing event at the Summer Olympic Games.
Apetz was born on 3 January 1986 in Haan, [2] and started boxing aged 21, whilst studying at the University of Bremen, after being unable to afford to continue riding and playing tennis. [3] [4] After completing her BSc degree in biology in 2009, Apetz moved to Australia for three years, studying for her Master's thesis. [5] In 2011, she graduated with a master's degree in neuroscience from the University of Bremen. [6] Since 2016, Apetz is undertaking a PhD degree in neuroscience. [6] [7] She researches at the University Hospital Cologne for her topic of "deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease in old age." [4] Her boxing trainer is Lukas Wilaschek. [3] Apetz was appointed as a member of the Youth Commission of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) for a term from 2019 to 2022. [8] [9]
She placed fifth at the 2011 Women's European Amateur Boxing Championships. [3] She won a bronze medal at the 2016 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, having achieved unanimous points decisions over Meena Rani, Timea Nagy, and Naomi Graham before losing to the eventual champion Valentina Khalzova. [1] [10] She was the first German boxer to win a medal at the championships since their inception in 2001. [11]
At the 2017 Women's European Union Amateur Boxing Championships she won the gold medal, [12] by eliminating Sandy Ryan, Gráinne Walsh and, in the final, Hanna Solecka. [1] Apetz took bronze at the 2018 World Championships, and has won the German championship six times since 2011. [7] [13] [4]
There was no women's welterweight competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics. When it was announced that it would be included in the 2020 Summer Olympics, Apetz decided to focus on qualifying. [4] In June 2021, she qualified to represent Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics after reaching the semi-finals of the 2020 European Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament, [14] becoming the first German woman to qualify for a boxing event at the Olympics. [15] She lost in the final to Busenaz Sürmeneli. [16]
The IBA World Boxing Championships, and the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships, are biennial amateur boxing competitions organised by the International Boxing Association (IBA), which is the sport governing body. Alongside the Olympic boxing programme, they are the highest level of competition for the sport. The championships were first held for men in 1974 and the first women's championships were held over 25 years later in 2001.

Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom is an Indian amateur boxer, politician, and former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. She is the only woman to win the World Amateur Boxing Championship six times, the only female boxer to have won a medal in each one of the first seven World Championships, and the only boxer to win eight World Championship medals. Nicknamed Magnificent Mary, she is the only Indian female boxer to have qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg) category and winning a bronze medal. She had also been ranked as the world's No. 1 female light-flyweight by the International Boxing Association (amateur) (AIBA). She became the first Indian female boxer to win a gold medal in the Asian Games in 2014 at Incheon, South Korea and is the first Indian female boxer to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She is also the only boxer to become Asian Amateur Boxing Champion for a record six times. Mary Kom won the 51kg gold in President's Cup in Indonesia.
Vikas Krishan Yadav is an Indian boxer from Bhiwani district in Haryana, the hub of some of India's best boxers. He won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games in the Lightweight category and a gold medal in 75kg weight category at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Natasha Jonas is a British professional boxer who has held the WBO female junior-middleweight title since February 2022. Since September 3rd 2022 she has held the WBC female super-welterweight title. As an amateur, she won a bronze medal in the lightweight division at the 2012 AIBA World Championships; bronze in the light welterweight division at the 2011 European Championships; and silver in the light welterweight division at the 2014 European Championships.
Marlen Esparza is an American professional boxer who held the WBC female flyweight title since June 2021 and the WBA and The Ring female flyweight title since April 2022. As an amateur she became the first American woman to qualify for the Olympics in the first year that women's boxing was an Olympic event, going on to win a bronze medal in the women's flyweight division at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Devendro Singh Laishram, also known as Devendro Singh or Devendro Laishram, is an Indian boxer from Imphal West district, Manipur who competes in the light-flyweight division. Devendro represented India at the 2012 Summer Olympics and lost out in the quarter finals in a tough bout against the eventual bronze medalist Irish boxer Paddy Barnes. Devendro qualified for the Olympics after reaching the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Baku. Qualification for the boxing events at the 2016 Summer Olympics is based on the APB and WSB World Rankings, APB and WSB World and Olympic Qualifier, the 2015 World Championships, and the 2016 World Olympic Qualifying Tournament. For the women's events, qualification is based only on the 2016 Women's World Championships. For both men and women, each boxer is selected to compete for the Games through the four Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to be held in 2016.
Rogen Ladon is a Filipino amateur boxer. He first took up boxing in 2007, and won medals in international tournaments such as the Asian Amateur Boxing Championships and Southeast Asian Games as well as in smaller tournaments such as the 2012 Taipei City Cup and 2011 Hong Kong International Tournament.

Kaur won a bronze medal for India at the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships. She was a part of the Indian women's boxing contingent and won a gold medal at the Ahmet Comert International Boxing Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey in the 64 kg category. Baatth is the first female boxer from Punjab to participate in the Olympics. Simranjit won silver at the 2019 Asian Championships and bronze at the 2018 World Championships. She won gold medal at the Cologne Boxing World Cup in Germany.
