Namibia competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. [1] Namibia sent 28 athletes (19 male and 9 female) and 11 officials to the Games, which was fewer than it had in 2006. [2] Namibian athletes competed in athletics, archery, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, bowls, shooting, and paralympics. [3] It however won more medals then in 2006.

Commonwealth Games Multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations

The Commonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The event was first held in 1930, and, with the exception of 1942 and 1946, has taken place every four years since then. The Commonwealth Games were known as the British Empire Games from 1930 to 1950, the British Empire and Commonwealth Games from 1954 to 1966, and British Commonwealth Games from 1970 to 1974. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams, making the Commonwealth Games the first fully inclusive international multi-sport event. In 2018, the Games became the first global multi-sport event to feature an equal number of men's and women's medal events. With such unique features, the World Economic Forum called the event inspiring and significant.

Currie Cup South Africas premier domestic rugby union competition

The Currie Cup tournament is South Africa's premier domestic rugby union competition, played each winter and spring, featuring teams representing either entire provinces or substantial regions within provinces. Although it is the premier domestic competition, South African teams also compete in the international United Rugby Championship competitions.

The 1971 South Africa rugby union tour of Australia was a controversial six-week rugby union tour by the Springboks to Australia. Anti-apartheid protests came to being all around the country. The tour is perhaps most infamous for a state of emergency being declared in Queensland. In total, around 700 people were arrested whilst the Springboks were on tour.

Sunette Viljoen South African athlete

Sunette Stella Viljoen is a South African sportswoman who has represented her country in both cricket and athletics. In athletics, she competes as a javelin thrower and has won an Olympic silver medal and two Commonwealth Games gold medals, as well as medals in various other competitions. As a cricketer, she represented the South African national team between 2000 and 2002, including at the 2000 World Cup in New Zealand.

The athletics competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held in New Delhi, India between 6 and 14 October. The track and field events took place between 6–12 October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the marathon contests were held on a street course running through the city on 14 October.

Johanna Benson Namibian Paralympic athlete

Johanna Benson is a Paralympian athlete from Walvis Bay, Namibia. She competes in T37 long jump and sprint events and at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London she won the women's 200 metres race in her classification. Her 200 metres success in London made her the first Paralympic gold medalist in Namibia's history.

Esty Amukwaya is a Namibian footballer who plays as a defender for Unam Bokkies in the NFA Women Super league and she is an important member of the Namibian National Women soccer team.

The Namibia Women's Super League also named NFA Skorpion Zinc Women's Super League is a semi-professional level women's association football league in Namibia. It is organized by the Namibia Football Association.

Janine van Wyk South African soccer player

Janine van Wyk is a South African soccer player who plays as a defender for Scottish club Glasgow City FC and captains the South Africa women's national team. She is the highest capped player in South Africa with 170 appearances, and highest capped female in CAF.

Steffi van Wyk-Brink is a Namibian model and beauty pageant titleholder who represented Namibia at the Miss World 2015 pageant.

South Africa at the 2015 African Games Sporting event delegation

A team of more than 150 athletes will fly the flag for South Africa at the 2015 All-Africa Games in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo in September. South African athletes will compete in a total of 15 different sports against their continental counterparts at the Games which run from 4–19 September while there is also representation by para-athletes in the power-lifting and athletics codes.

Claudia Cummins is a South African female artistic gymnast, representing her nation at international competitions.

The 2017 Africa Cup Sevens is a rugby sevens tournament held in Kampala, Uganda on 6–7 October 2017. It will be the 5th championship in a series that began in 2013.

Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park, both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome from 5 to 14 April.

Namibia at the 2019 African Games Sporting event delegation

Namibia competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. Early on 56 athletes were scheduled to represent Namibia in 10 sports. This later grew to 68 athletes in 13 sports. In total two gold medals, two silver medals and four bronze medals were won and the country finished in 16th place in the medal table, shared with Angola. Most medals were won in cycling.

Willem Erasmus Esterhuizen Jr. (1985-2020) was an international lawn bowler from Namibia.
