Navan Rugby Football Club is an Irish rugby union club, based in Navan, County Meath, Republic of Ireland. They currently (2022-2023) play in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. [1] The club was founded in 1924. [2]
Navan were founded in 1924 and played their first match at the Meath County Showgrounds groundsharing with Navan O'Mahonys GAA. [3] [4] They spent most of their existence in their first forty years as a nomadic club with no fixed home ground. [2] In 1964, the club purchased land in Balreask Old Townland for IR£660 for a permanent rugby pitch and clubhouse. [2] In 2000, the clubhouse was renovated and funded via land sales and through support of the Minister for the Environment. [2] [5] In 2019, Navan received an anonymous donation to fund the erection of new rugby posts. [6]
Navan won their first trophy, the Ryan Cup in 1930. [3] They also won the Provincial Town Cup ten times between 1964 and 2008. [3] Navan won their first Leinster League Division 1A which entered them into the inter-provincial play-offs to enter the All-Ireland League but were unsuccessful in gaining promotion. [3] In 2009, they won the Leinster title again and in the play-offs, they defeated City of Derry, Cashel and Monivea to earn qualification into the All-Ireland League for the first time. [7] In 2016, the All-Ireland league was restructured with Navan being placed in Division 2C, the lowest division. Navan won promotion in their first season and also won promotion from Division 2B the next year. In 2019, they won promotion to Division 1B after defeating Queen's University in the promotion play-off. [1]

Old Wesley Rugby Football Club was founded in 1891 from the past pupils of Wesley College, Dublin. Since then it has become one of Leinster's most famous clubs. It plays in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club won the Leinster Senior Cup in 1909 and 1985 as well as winning the AIL Division 2 title in 1989 and the AIL Division 2A title in 2015. They celebrated their Centenary year in 1991 with a match against a star-studded Barbarians team featuring Internationals such as Eric Rush, Pierre Berbizier and Tony Underwood. They won the eleven-try match in dramatic fashion with a last minute drop-goal to win 37-36.

The club's women's team is currently in the Leinster League Division 2 The current president is Caroline McFadden 2019-2021 and the vice president is Leigh O'Toole 2019-2021. The club also has youths boys and girls teams as well as men's, women's, minis and special needs teams. In 2020 the club finally opened the long anticipated clubhouse. George Thomas Hamlet was a former president of the club who was also president of the IRFU and played rugby for Ireland on 29 occasions. In 1928 Balbriggan won the Leinster Towns Cup defeating Athy.

Malahide RFC is an Irish rugby club based in Malahide, Fingal County, playing in Division 2B of the All-Ireland League. The club was founded in 1922 but disbanded in 1944 because of a lack of members during World War II. The club was reformed in 1978 and in 2006 the club moved into its new grounds on Estuary Road. The club colours are black and amber, the same colours as Malahide Cricket Club and Malahide Yacht Club.
