Midleton RFC is an Irish rugby union club that plays in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League. [1]

History

The club was founded in the 1927/28 season, but disbanded in 1934. Midleton RFC was reformed on 4 March 1967.

After a number of decades in the junior leagues, Midleton attained senior status after the 1997/1998 campaign with a 30-7 playoff victory over Sligo RFC. [2] Midleton were beaten finalists in the Munster Senior Cup in 2003. [3] As of 2010, the club was playing in Division Three. [4] By 2020, the club was playing in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League. [1]

There was a revamp of club facilities in the mid-2000s.[ citation needed ]

Former All Black fullback Christian Cullen made a 20 minute appearance for Midleton in a friendly match against Cork Constitution in March 2006. [5] [6] Other former players have included:

The Munster Junior Cup is a rugby union competition played in the province of Munster, Ireland. The competition was established for the stronger junior clubs and the second teams of the Senior clubs in the province of Munster. The current champions are University College Cork (UCC) in 2024. The competition has traditionally been dominated by senior clubs.

Old Belvedere R.F.C. is a senior Irish rugby union club based on Anglesea Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin, Ireland. Old Belvedere was originally founded in 1918–19 by former pupils of Belvedere College. Old Belvedere enters senior men's teams in the All-Ireland League, the Leinster Senior League and the Leinster Senior Cup. In 2010–11 they were All-Ireland League champions. Between 1940 and 1946 the club won the Leinster Senior Cup seven times in a row. This remains a competition record. Old Belvedere also enters men's and women's teams in various senior, junior and youth leagues.

Nenagh Ormond RFC is an Irish rugby union club based in Nenagh, County Tipperary. It was founded in 1884 as the Ormond Cricket and Football Club. The club plays in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League and was County Tipperary's first ever senior grade rugby club. The club's main ground is New Ormond Park, with another ground in Tyone where underage teams train and play.

City of Derry Rugby Football Club is a rugby club, formed in 1881 in Derry, Ireland. They currently play in the Ulster Rugby Championship Division 1 after relegation from Division 2C of the All-Ireland League in 2022.

Galwegians Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club in Galway, Ireland.

University College Cork Rugby Football Club is an Irish rugby union club which currently plays in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. Founded in 1872, they originally played as Queen’s College Cork, as UCC was then known. Recent successes include winning the All Ireland U-20 Championship in 2002. In the same year, they also reached the AIB League playoffs for the first time, narrowly missing out on promotion to Division 1. Leading players in that team included Denis Leamy, Stephen Keogh and Frank Murphy, all of whom went on to play for Munster.

Monkstown Football Club is an Irish rugby senior club based in Dublin 4. As of the 2024-25 season, it plays in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League.

Enniscorthy RFC is a rugby union club based in Enniscorthy, County Wexford in Ireland. Founded in 1912, as of 2024 it was playing in Division 2C of the All-Ireland League. The clubhouse and pitch are located on the Ross Road in Enniscorthy.

Cashel Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Cashel, County Tipperary, Ireland, playing in Division 2A of the All-Ireland League. Cashel RFC has a 'minis rugby' section which caters for children from U7s up to U12s, a juvenile section for U14s, U16s and U18 and halfs, and a Ladies Rugby section which includes Girls Tag, U18s and a Senior Ladies Team and 3 Senior teams 3rds 2nds and a 1st team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">John Lacey (rugby union)</span> Rugby player

John Lacey is a former Ireland A and Ireland Sevens rugby union international and current rugby union referee. As a player, Lacey spent most of career with Shannon in the All-Ireland League. He also represented Munster. As an international referee he has taken charge of matches in the Six Nations Championship, the Rugby Championship and the Rugby World Cup. He also refereed the 2013 Pro12 Grand Final and the 2015–16 and 2016–17 European Rugby Challenge Cup finals.

The 2024-25 All-Ireland League, known as the Energia All-Ireland League for sponsorship reasons, is the 33rd season of Irish Rugby's top level domestic competition. The League began on 20 September 2024 and will finish with the League final at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on 27 April 2025.
