"New Drop" is a song by American rapper and singer Don Toliver. It was released through Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records as a track from his fourth studio album, Hardstone Psycho , on June 14, 2024. Toliver wrote the song with producers Wheezy, Psymun, Dez Wright, and Coleman. The song gained mainstream popularity a few months after its release due to it being played in the background of a lot of videos on the online video platform TikTok.

Composition and critical reception

Gabriel Bras Nevares of HotNewHipHop felt that Toliver's "control of both clubby choruses and chopped-and-screwed-adjacent Southern rap on 'NEW DROP' offers inescapable refrains". [1] In a similar review, Perrin Kapur of SportsKeeda opined that "the production of NEW DROP is very similar to Afro-trap and Latin music from the use of percussion instrumentals mixed with heavy bass drops and synthesizers" as "the song revolves around Don's mental conflict with love, as he finds himself confused about which of the two women in his life he should choose". [2] Writing for NPR , Sheldon Pearce said that he sounds like "like a sexbot floating through a wind tunnel". [3]

It was released as the second single from Internet Money's debut studio album, B4 the Storm, on August 14, 2020. The song was produced by Internet Money producers Taz Taylor, Nick Mira, Alec Wigdahl, E-Trou, and Pharaoh Vice, who all wrote it with the rappers alongside John Mitchell, Jozzy, and Donny Flores. On September 14, 2022, it was included as the sole bonus track on Nav's fourth studio album, Demons Protected by Angels, which was released five days before. "Moon" is a song by American rapper Kanye West from his tenth studio album, Donda (2021). The song includes vocals from fellow rappers Don Toliver and Kid Cudi. The production was handled by West and E.Vax, with co-production from BoogzDaBeast and DJ Khalil. Alongside the vocalists, all the producers wrote the song. It initially only had an appearance from Toliver, however Kid Cudi was included after the album's first listening event in July 2021. Lil Yachty sought the rapper's appearance by reaching out to Vory, who arranged it through contact with West. The song had been crafted by West before Toliver worked on it in 2021, differing largely from the initial recording on the final version. A tender ballad, it features riffs of electric guitar and lyrics from Kid Cudi about reflecting to better himself.

The song was mainly produced by Buddy Ross, OhRoss, IWantDior, Broadday, and 206Derek and additionally produced by Strae1k and 1Tenesoh, and Toliver wrote it with the main producers alongside John Mitchell; Joy Orbison and Léa Fourlin are also credited as songwriters as the song contains samples from the former's 2021 song, "Better", which features the latter. "Deep in the Water" is an R&B song that sees Toliver talk about his love for his girlfriend, Colombian-American singer Kali Uchis, and their then-newborn son, as he sings in the chorus: "Deep in the water, far as I can see / Deep in the water, it's just you and me / Deep in the water, far as I can see / Deep in the water, through your pregnancy".

Hardstone Psycho is the fourth studio album by American rapper and singer Don Toliver. It was released through Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records on June 14, 2024. The album features guest appearances from Kodak Black, Charlie Wilson, Cash Cobain, Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, and Teezo Touchdown. The deluxe version of the album was released exclusively on Toliver's website four days later before being published on streaming services on June 25, 2024. It features additional guest appearances from Lil Uzi Vert and Yeat. Production on the album was handled by Cash Cobain and Metro Boomin themselves, alongside Bugz Ronin, Preme, Mikey Freedom Hart, Bnyx, Zaytoven, Honorable C.N.O.T.E., Wheezy, Psymun, Buddy Ross, Oz, FKi 1st, and Charlie Handsome, among others. It serves as the follow-up to Toliver's previous album, Love Sick (2023).
