Emma Garland of Crack commented the album "doesn't reach for new subject matter as much as it reframes the old" and "There's a fresh sharpness to their delivery on New World Depression, too; a weightless calm washes over the whole record that would previously only appear in flashes."
Steve Erickson of Slant Magazine wrote "While $crim and Ruby are now in their 30s, tracks like 'The Thin Grey Line' have a teenage edgelord quality to them: 'Talking about killing got my dick getting hard.' The group's attitude remains similar, with brash boasts mixed with equally extreme evocations of outrageous violence and drug use. Over the course of an entire album, this grows monotonous, just as their relentless, exaggerated misogyny quickly becomes grating." He additionally stated, "Horrorcore isn't known for tasteful lyrics, but even its uglier moments have been a way for artists to express their struggles with addiction and mental health. The fact that, for $uicideboy$, these experiences are so closely tied up with how they treat women makes New World Depression a harder pill to swallow. 'If I got to pick the drugs or a bitch, you know what I'm choosing,' goes one lyric on 'Misery in Waking Hours.'" [1]

Jagged Little Pill is the third studio album by Canadian-American singer Alanis Morissette, released on June 13, 1995, through Maverick and her first album to be released worldwide. It marked a stylistic departure from the dance-pop sound of her first two albums, Alanis (1991) and Now Is the Time (1992), and to make such change even more distinguishable for her international debut record, she also has started using her surname, previously using only single name moniker ''Alanis''. Morissette began work on the album after moving from her hometown Ottawa to Los Angeles, where she met producer Glen Ballard. Morissette and Ballard had an instant connection and began co-writing and experimenting with sounds. The experimentation resulted in an alternative rock album that takes influence from post-grunge and pop rock, and features guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and harmonica. The lyrics touch upon themes of aggression and unsuccessful relationships, while Ballard introduced a pop sensibility to Morissette's angst. The title of the album is taken from a line in the first verse of the song "You Learn".
So-Called Chaos is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, released on May 18, 2004, through Maverick Records. It is a largely acoustic retrospective version of her highly successful third album, Jagged Little Pill (1995); the songs are stripped-down versions of the originals, though producer Glen Ballard has augmented them with studio production effects to create an alternative pop album. The album was released by Maverick Records in the United States on June 13, 2005, available only at North American Starbucks outlets until July 26, 2005, when it was made available in other retail stores. This limited availability led to a dispute between Maverick Records and HMV Canada, who retaliated by removing from sale Morissette's other albums for the duration of Starbucks' exclusive month-long sale. The album genres consists of hip hop and hardcore hip hop, along with elements of cloud rap. The album chronicles semi-autobiographical stories of the duo's encounters with depression, drug addiction and suicidal ideation. Released to critical acclaim in the underground rap scene, the album debuted at number 9 on the US Billboard 200 with 49,000 album-equivalent units in its first week sales. The album also reached the top 10 in Australia and Finland.
