This is a list of the top 50 albums in New Zealand of 1998 as compiled by Recorded Music NZ in the end-of-year chart of the Official New Zealand Music Chart. Five albums by New Zealand artists are included on the chart, the highest being The Feelers' debut album Supersystem at No. 2. [1]

The Datsuns

The Datsuns are a hard rock band from Cambridge, New Zealand, formed in 1998. Founding mainstays are Rudolf "Dolf" de Borst on vocals and bass guitar, Christian Livingstone and Phil Somervell, both on guitar. As of April 2021 they have released six albums with their debut self-titled album from October 2002, peaking at No. 1 in New Zealand and reaching the top 20 on the United Kingdom's Official Charts. They had relocated to London in 2002. Their second album, Outta Sight/Outta Mind, appeared at No. 7 in New Zealand and top 60 in the UK. Smoke & Mirrors, peaked in the top 20 in New Zealand. Early drummer Matt Osment was replaced by Ben Cole, after that album, Their top 40 singles in the UK are "In Love" and "Harmonic Generator". In New Zealand, their highest charting single, "Stuck Here for Days" (2006), reached the top 30.

Six60 New Zealand rock band

Six60 is a five-piece New Zealand band that formed in 2008. Their self-titled debut album was released on 10 October 2011 on their own label Massive Entertainment. The album was produced and mixed by Tiki Taane and debuted at number one in the New Zealand charts and was certified gold within its first week of release. Their first two singles "Rise Up 2.0" and "Don't Forget Your Roots" reached number one and number two respectively on the RIANZ singles chart and were both certified double and triple platinum. In 2018 the band won five Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and were the most streamed artist by New Zealanders on Spotify. On 23 February 2019, Six60 became the first New Zealand band to play a sold-out concert at the Western Springs Stadium, to a crowd of 50,000 fans. On 24 April 2021, Six60 became the first ever band to play a concert at the Auckland’s Eden Park Stadium, to a crowd of 50,000 fans. It was the closing of the Six60 Saturdays country-wide tour.

Six60 is the second studio album released by New Zealand rock band Six60. It was released on 27 February 2015 through New Zealand label Massive Entertainment. It debuted at number one on the New Zealand Albums Chart and was certified Gold in its first week. All of the songs on the album made an appearance on the New Zealand Artists Singles Chart in its first week of release due to strong overall sales. The album was later released in a Standard edition or a Deluxe edition with additional tracks.
