North West Surrey Synagogue is a Reform Jewish community whose synagogue is on Oatlands Drive in Weybridge, Surrey, England. The community, which now consists of 300 families, [1] was founded in 1956 [2] and is affiliated to the Movement for Reform Judaism. [3]

The synagogue's current rabbi (since 2017) is Kath Vardi. [2] Its previous rabbis have included Tony Bayfield (1969–1982), Frederick Morgan (1984–1997), Jackie Tabick (1999–2013) [2] [4] and Dr David Zucker (2013–2017). [3]

Movement for Reform Judaism Jewish denomination in the UK

Reform Judaism, is one of the two World Union for Progressive Judaism–affiliated denominations in Britain. Jackie Tabick British Reform rabbi (born 1948)

Jacqueline "Jackie" Tabick is a British Reform rabbi. She became Britain's first female rabbi in 1975. She is convenor of the Movement for Reform Judaism's Beit Din, the first woman in the role, and is also Rabbi of West Central Liberal Synagogue in Bloomsbury, central London.

North Western Reform Synagogue

North Western Reform Synagogue at Temple Fortune in north west London. The synagogue was built in Alyth Gardens in 1936, on land carved out from the West London Synagogue’s cemetery in Hoop Lane. Alyth is one of the largest Reform synagogues in the United Kingdom. It has around 2500 adult and 1000 child members. In 2021 its members approved a £6 million upgrade to the synagogue building.

Bradford Tree of Life Synagogue is a synagogue at 7 Bowland Street in Bradford, West Yorkshire, affiliated with the Movement for Reform Judaism. It adopted its present name in 2018. The synagogue is still used for Shabbat and major festivals although the community is small and has been in decline for some years. Friday night dinners are held as well as a communal seder for Passover.

Laura Janner-Klausner

Laura Naomi Janner-Klausner is a British rabbi who served as the Senior Rabbi to Reform Judaism. Janner-Klausner grew up in London before studying theology at the University of Cambridge and moving to Israel in 1985, living in Jerusalem for 15 years. She returned to Britain in 1999 and was ordained at Leo Baeck College, serving as rabbi at Alyth Synagogue until 2011, when she became the inaugural Senior Rabbi. She stepped down from this position in September 2020.

The Wimbledon Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a synagogue in the London Borough of Wandsworth at Queensmere Road, Wimbledon Park, on the boundary with the London Borough of Merton. Its Rabbi is Adrian Schell and its Chair is Rob Glaser.

Sybil Ann Sheridan is a writer and British Reform rabbi. She was Chair of the Assembly of Reform Rabbis UK at the Movement for Reform Judaism from 2013 to 2015 and was Rabbi at Wimbledon and District Synagogue in south west London. As of 2020 she is part-time rabbi at Newcastle Reform Synagogue.

Finchley Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a synagogue in North Finchley in the London Borough of Barnet. Its clergy are Senior Rabbi Miriam Berger, Cantor Zöe Jacobs, Rabbi Deborah Blausten, Rabbi Howard Cooper and Emeritus Rabbi Jeffrey Newman.

Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue

Edgware & Hendon Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Judaism congregation at 118 Stonegrove, Edgware in the London Borough of Barnet. It was formed in 2017 as a result of the merger between the Edgware & District Reform Synagogue (EDRS) and the Hendon Reform Synagogue (HRS) communities. EDRS originated in 1934 as "Edgware and District Progressive Jewish Fellowship" and in February 1935 became “Edgware and District Reform Synagogue”. HRS was founded in 1949 and its first building, in 1955, was in Danescroft Avenue. The two communities merged in 2017, and the merged community is located on the site of the former EDRS. It is now the largest synagogue in Europe; its membership includes 2500 families.

Southend and District Reform Synagogue

Southend and District Reform Synagogue is a synagogue in Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The community was founded in 1946 and is a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism. It produces a newsletter, Hakol Shel Sinai.

Kol Chai Hatch End Reform Jewish Community, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Jewish congregation at 434 Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, Pinner in the London Borough of Harrow. It was founded in March 1987.

Shaarei Tsedek: North London Reform Synagogue

Sha'arei Tsedek North London Reform Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a synagogue in Whetstone in the London Borough of Barnet. Founded in 1961, it was previously known as Southgate and District Reform Synagogue.

South West Essex and Settlement Reform Synagogue (SWESRS), on Oaks Lane, Newbury Park in Ilford, London, is a synagogue in the London Borough of Redbridge. The community was founded in 1956. It is a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism and its immediate past Rabbi was Lisa Barrett who vacated the position in May 2021. Prior to Rabbi Lisa Barrett South West Essex and Settlement Reform Synagogue employed eminent Rabbi, Nancy Morris.

Jennifer Anne Jankel is a retired British businesswoman and, since 2011, chair of the Jewish Music Institute in London. The daughter of bandleader Joe Loss and his wife Mildred, she was educated in London at St Paul's Girls' School, Hammersmith and the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle in South Kensington. She became UK managing director and, later, vice-president of French shoe company Charles Jourdan before opening her own shoe business, Luc Berjen. Examples of her shoes are now in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
