The Northern Districts cricket team are one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams that make up New Zealand Cricket.
They are based in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand (excluding Auckland). They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, the Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Super Smash T20 competition as the Northern Knights.
Northern Districts, the last of the six current teams to attain first-class status, joined the Plunket Shield competition in 1956–57. The six district associations that make up Northern Districts are the Northland Cricket Association, Counties Manukau Cricket Association, Waikato Valley Cricket, Hamilton Cricket Association, Bay of Plenty Cricket and Poverty Bay Cricket Association. The Central Stags, formerly known as Central Districts, are a first-class cricket team based in central New Zealand. They are the men's representative side of the Central Districts Cricket Association. They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, The Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Dream11 Super Smash Twenty20 competition. They are one of six teams that make up New Zealand Cricket. They were the fifth of the current teams to compete in the Plunket Shield, which they entered for the first time in the 1950/51 season.
The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten Ford Trophy championships and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval.

Joseph Franklyn Carter is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Northern Districts. He made his Twenty20 debut for Northern Districts on 4 December 2016 in the 2016–17 Super Smash. Prior to his Twenty20 debut, he was part of New Zealand's squad for the 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Mitch Renwick is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Central Districts on 20 February 2016 in the 2015–16 Plunket Shield. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with Otago for the 2018–19 season. He made his List A debut for Otago in the 2018–19 Ford Trophy on 24 October 2018. Willem Ludick is a South African cricketer who has played domestic cricket in New Zealand. In 2020, Ludick had moved to Texas, with an aim of possibly representing the United States. He is the grandson of South African Olympic boxer Willie Ludick.
