Nothing Phone 2 Indian variant needs to be activated with an Indian SIM card, from within India after every Reset or First Boot, after which any SIM card can be used. Without an Indian SIM and activations from within India, the initial setup cannot be bypassed. [14] Due to the unpublicized nature of the restriction, many Indian buyers have been locked out of their phones when attempting to activate it outside the country or, if the phone required a reset when outside the country. This has caused order cancellations from those made aware of the restriction, with calls for lifting the restriction through a software update. [15] [16]
