Oliver George Robinson (born 1 December 1998) is a professional cricketer who plays for Durham County Cricket Club. He plays as either a wicket-keeper or as a specialist batsman and made his debut for Kent in 2017.
Robinson was born in Sidcup and attended Hurstmere School before studying for A Levels at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School. [2] [3] [4] He played age group cricket for Kent,scoring 251 for the under-17 side during 2016,and plays club cricket for Beckenham,having previously played for Bexley and Sidcup. [2] [5] [6] [7] He was awarded a place in Kent's cricket academy in 2014 [4] and won the John Aitken Grey Trophy,awarded to the most promising academy scholar of the year,in both 2016 and 2017. [8] [9]
Robinson made his debut for Kent's Second XI in June 2015 [10] and had made six appearances before being drafted into the Kent squad for the 2016–17 Regional Super50 tournament in the West Indies in January and February 2017 as cover for Adam Rouse with Sam Billings on England duty. [5] [6] He made his debut for the senior Kent team in their final match of the tournament against West Indies under-19s on 12 February 2017. [11]
More Second XI appearances followed in the 2017 domestic season and Robinson scored his maiden century for the Second XI against Sussex Second XI in May 2017. [12] Fielding as a replacement for Rouse who had injured his thumb earlier in the match,Robinson claimed his first catch in first-class cricket on the final day of a County Championship match against Leicestershire later in the same month. [13] In July 2017 he was named in the England under-19 squad for a series of matches against India under-19s during July and August. [14]
At the end of the 2017 season Robinson was named as the Kent Cricket League Young Cricketer of the Year and signed his first professional contract with Kent. [1] [15] [16] Robinson was selected for Kent's squad for the 2017–18 Regional Super50 competition ahead of the 2018 English season but did not play as the county advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament. Good scores for the Second XI at the start of the season,including a double century, [17] saw him selected again by England under-19s in June for a series of Test matches against South Africa under-19s. [18] After being involved on the fringes of the First XI in a number of matches,Robinson made his first-class cricket debut for Kent in August 2018 in the County Championship at Leicester.
Following an injury to Kent's first-choice wicket-keeper Sam Billings,Robinson took over as the county's wicket-keeper in County Championship matches during the 2019 season. [19] [20] He scored his maiden first-class century against Warwickshire in April [21] and signed a contract extension in June 2019,following interest from other counties during the early part of the season. [19] [22] He made his Twenty20 debut in Kent's first match of the 2019 t20 Blast,scoring a half century and making a stumping on debut. [23] He finished the season as the leading wicketkeeper in the County Championship with 54 dismissals. [24]
After playing in all of Kent's Bob Willis Trophy matches during the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season,Robinson signed a contract extension in December 2020,extending his contract to the end of the 2023 season. [24] [25] During the 2022 season Robinson spent the 2022 T20 Blast part of the season on loan at Durham in order to ensure that he played competitive cricket during that part of the season. [26] He returned to play for Kent later in the season and was awarded his county cap before playing in the county's winning One-Day Cup side. [3] He scored the first double hundred of his career during the campaign,making a Kent record 206 not out against Worcestershire in August. [27] He also played in the side's final County Championship matches of the season,but towards the end of September announced that he would be joining Durham on a three-year contract ahead of the 2023 season. Sam Alexander Northeast is an English professional cricketer who plays for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batsman. Northeast made his senior debut in 2007 and until 2017 played for Kent County Cricket Club. He captained the Kent First XI for most of the 2015 season before being formally appointed as club captain in 2016. He captained the side in 2017 before being replaced before the 2018 season after declining to sign a contract extension committing himself to the club in the longer term.
Adam James Ball is an English cricketer who plays for Suffolk County Cricket Club. Ball is a batting allrounder who played top level cricket for Kent County Cricket Club from 2010 until 2017 and was captain of the England Under-19 cricket team.
Daniel James Bell-Drummond is an English professional cricketer, who plays for Kent County Cricket Club. He has represented England at youth level and has played for the England Lions cricket team at senior level.
Samuel William Billings is an English professional cricketer. Billings is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Pembury in Kent and has played for Kent County Cricket Club sides since he was eight years old, making his senior debut for the First XI in 2011. In October 2017 he was appointed as the vice-captain of the team before being appointed as captain in January 2018, replacing Sam Northeast. He served as the club's captain until the end of the 2023 season when he resigned, although he retained the captaincy of the club's Twenty20 cricket side.
Adam Paul Rouse is a Zimbabwean-born English former professional cricketer. Rouse played as a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper, although he was considered versatile enough to play solely as a specialist batsman. Rouse played for England at under-19 level and made his first-class debut in 2013 for Hampshire County Cricket Club. He played for Gloucestershire in 2014 before joining Kent County Cricket Club ahead of the 2016 season. He retired from professional cricket at the start of the 2020 season.
Harry William Podmore is a retired English professional cricketer who played for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. A right-arm medium-fast bowler who bats right-handed, he played youth cricket for Middlesex and made his debut for the county in 2014 before spending time on loan with Glamorgan, Durham and Derbyshire over the next two seasons. He made his first-class cricket debut on 1 May 2016 in the 2016 County Championship and played for Kent between 2018 and 2022; he was awarded his county cap in 2019 and left the county at the end of the 2022 season, moving to Glamorgan.
Oliver Edward Robinson is an English professional cricketer who plays internationally for the England Test cricket team. In domestic cricket, he represents Sussex, having previously played for Yorkshire and Hampshire. He made his Test debut in 2021, and plays as a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He made a comeback in test cricket against India in the 4th test at Ranchi after a long break from injury. Robinson holds the unfortunate record for the most expensive over ever bowled in the English County Championship, conceding 43 against Leicestershire in June 2024.

Michael Gregory Kerran Burgess is an English former cricketer who last played for Warwickshire County Cricket Club. A wicketkeeper batsman, Burgess came through the Surrey Academy, making a total of 31 appearances at 2nd XI level between 2011 and 2013.

The season was the fifth, and last, in charge for head coach Jimmy Adams and the first for new club captain Sam Northeast, who took over from Rob Key at the end of the 2015 season, having captained the side on the field for much of the season.

In addition, before the start of the English cricket season, Kent competed in the 2016–17 Regional Super50, the List A competition of the West Indian domestic season. This was the first time that any English county had competed in an overseas domestic competition. The invitation to take part in the tournament was largely due to the influence of former West Indian captain Jimmy Adams who had been Kent's Head Coach until September 2016.

The county finished second in Division Two of the Championship and were promoted to Division One for the 2019 season. They reached the final of the One-Day Cup. losing to Hampshire at Lord's, and the quarter-final stage of the t20 Blast. In addition, before the start of the English cricket season, Kent competed in the 2017–18 Regional Super50, the List A competition of the West Indies domestic season, reaching the semi-final stage. This was the second time that Kent have competed in the competition, having played in the 2016–17 competition.
Matthew Edward Milnes is an English professional cricketer who currently plays for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, having moved from Kent at the end of the 2022 season. Milnes was born in Nottingham and grew up in the city and attended West Bridgford School in the city before going to Durham University. A seam bowler, he was part of the Nottinghamshire Academy programme before making his first-class cricket debut in April 2014 for Durham MCC University against Derbyshire. He received a Half-Palatinate for his cricketing activities at university.

Jordan Matthew Cox is an English professional cricketer. He signed his first professional contract with Kent County Cricket Club in October 2018, having joined the county club at age 10, played for them at age-group levels and been a member of the club's academy programme, winning the John Aitken Gray award as the best academy scholar in 2018.
