The alternative name is from the de l'Hospital family, owners in the 16th and 17th centuries. The structure dates originally from the 14th century, although there are traces of 12th-century work, but has been repeatedly remodelled by successive owners.
Valserhône is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Eastern France. It is the result of the merger, on 1 January 2019, of the communes of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, Châtillon-en-Michaille and Lancrans.
