The PSA Masters is a prestigious squash tournament which is one of the premier events on the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour. It is the only PSA World Tour event which is open exclusively to the top 32 players in the world rankings, and is part of the PSA World Series.

Squash (sport) racquet sport

Squash is a ball sport played by two (singles) or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players must alternate in striking the ball with their racquet and hit the ball onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court.

Professional Squash Association

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit. The body operates in a similar fashion to the ATP and the WTA for tennis. The PSA World Tour involves over 200 tournaments annually all over the globe. Over 800 players from all the 5 continents are registered with the PSA and rankings are updated monthly based on players' performances.

From 2000-01, the event was held in Egypt. It then moved to Qatar from 2002-04, and to Bermuda from 2005-06. The event was not held in 2007-08, and was then staged in New Delhi, India in 2009-2011. [1]

Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country located in Western Asia, occupying the small Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Whether the sovereign state should be regarded as a constitutional monarchy or an absolute monarchy is disputed. Its sole land border is with neighbouring Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) monarchy Saudi Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. An arm of the Persian Gulf separates Qatar from the nearby Bahrain.

Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is approximately 1,070 km (665 mi) east-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; 1,236 km (768 mi) south of Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia; and 1,759 km (1,093 mi) northeast of Cuba. The capital city is Hamilton. Bermuda is self-governing, with its own constitution and its own government, which enacts local laws, while the United Kingdom retains responsibility for defence and foreign relations. As of July 2018, its population is 71,176, the highest of the British overseas territories.

Since 2005, the draw for the event has featured 32 men. Prior to that, it featured 16 players. The 2010 tournament had a women's event.

The current world number one is Nour El Sherbini of Egypt, who replaced Laura Massaro in May 2016.

The PSA World Tour 2018 is the international squash tour organised circuit organized by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) for the 2018 squash season. It's the 4th PSA season since the merger of PSA and WSA associations in 2015.
