Bandung is the capital city of the West Java province of Indonesia. Located on the island of Java, Greater Bandung is the country's second-largest and second most populous metropolitan area, with over 11 million inhabitants. Situated 768 meters above sea level, approximately 140 kilometres southeast of Jakarta, Bandung has cooler year-round temperatures than most other Indonesian cities. The city lies in a river basin surrounded by volcanic mountains that provide a natural defence system, which was the primary reason for the Dutch East Indies government's plan to move the capital from Batavia to Bandung. Greater Bandung is also the ninth-largest economy in ASEAN, after Greater Hanoi.
Bandung Regency is an administrative landlocked regency located to the south, southeast, east and northeast of the city of Bandung. The northern parts of the Bandung Regency are effectively part of Greater Bandung, with the southern third being less urbanized and jutting upwards from the Valley, though not as sharply as the mountain range to the immediate north of Bandung. The Regency is part of the Indonesian province of West Java, and is situated about 75 miles southeast of Jakarta. The town of Soreang is the regency seat.
Cimahi is a landlocked city located immediately west of the larger city of Bandung, in West Java Province, Indonesia and within the Bandung Metropolitan Area. It covers an area of 42.43 km2 and had a population at the 2010 Census of 541,177 and at the 2020 Census of 568,400; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 590,782. The city is a major textile producer, and is home to several military training centres.

Padalarang–Cileunyi Toll Road or Padaleunyi is an expressway located in Bandung, West Java. It is a part of the Purbaleunyi Toll Road (Purwakarta-Bandung-Cileunyi) connecting Cileunyi, Bandung Regency with Purwakarta and onwards to Jakarta. This particular segment of the toll road bypasses the city of Bandung and is also used for local transportation between locations passed.

The complex is planned to serve long-distance train services from Kereta Api Indonesia, commuter trains from KAI Commuter, and Jakarta-Bandung high-speed trains from Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC). The complex is in the form of two different station buildings, each operated by KAI and KCIC, and connected via a pedestrian bridge.

KAI Commuter Line Bandung, officially the Greater Bandung Commuter Line, is a commuter rail service operated by KAI Commuter Region 2 Bandung which serves the Purwakarta – Padalarang – Cicalengka route. This train stops at every station it passes except Andir Station which is still under construction.
