The Pan-American Championships [1] also known as the Campeonatos Panamericanos was a men's and women's clay court tennis tournament established in 1943 and played at the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec, Mexico City, Mexico until 1969.

History

The Pan-American Championships or Torneo Panamericano de Tenis was established in 1943, and played on clay courts at the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec, Mexico City, Mexico. [2] The championships were staged annually until 1969 when they were discontinued.

Rodney George Laver is an Australian former tennis player. Laver was ranked the world number 1 professional player indisputably for five years from 1965 to 1969 and by some sources also in 1964 and 1970. In 1976 the tournament was known as the Bermuda Classic. From 1914 until at least 1944 it was played on outdoor hard courts. In later years it was held in Paget in Bermuda and played on outdoor clay courts.

The Monte-Carlo Masters is an annual tennis tournament for male professional players held in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, which borders on Monaco. It is played on clay courts at the Monte Carlo Country Club and is held in April. The tournament is part of the nine ATP Tour Masters 1000 events on the ATP Tour. Rafael Nadal has won the men's singles title a record eleven times.

The San Luis Open also known as the San Luis Potosí Open is a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor red clay courts.

The Carolinas International Tennis Tournament, also known by its sponsored name North Carolina National Bank Tennis Classic, was a combined men's and women's tennis tournament founded in 1965. Also known as the Carolinas Invitational it was played at the Julian J. Clark Tennis Stadium on the grounds of the Olde Providence Racquet Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1965 through 1977. The inaugural edition was part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit while the following editions were part of the World Championship Tennis (WCT) circuit. The event was held on outdoor hard courts in 1971, and on outdoor clay courts in 1970 and from 1972 through 1977.

The Virginia Slims of Fort Lauderdale is a defunct WTA Tour affiliated women's tennis tournament founded in 1946 as a combined men's and women's event called the Austin Smith Championships that was part of the ILTF Circuit. The tournament played at the Fort Lauderdale Tennis Club from 1946 to 1974. It was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the United States and played on outdoor clay courts.

The 1978 Colgate-Palmolive Grand Prix was a professional tennis circuit held that year. It consisted of four Grand Slam tournaments, the Grand Prix tournaments and the Nations Cup, a team event. In addition eight World Championship Tennis (WCT) tournaments, a separate professional tennis circuit held from 1971 through 1977, were incorporated into the Grand Prix circuit. The 28 tournaments with prize money of $175,000 or more formed the Super Series category. Jimmy Connors won 10 of the 84 tournaments which secured him the first place in the Grand Prix points ranking. However he did not play enough tournaments (13) to qualify for largest share ($300,000) of the bonus pool, which instead went to third–ranked Eddie Dibbs.

Panamerican Tennis Center, formerly The Telcel Tennis Complex, is a tennis center in Zapopan, Mexico. It was officially opened on 15 October 2010, in a ceremony and exhibition tournament featuring tennis professionals Andre Agassi and Jim Courier. The complex consists of a main court with a capacity of 2,592, 8 tournament courts, 4 practice courts and an underground parking lot. It hosted the tennis competition at the 2011 Pan American Games. For the games it had a temporary capacity of 6,639 for the entire complex.

The Miami Grand Prix is a defunct men's tennis tournament founded in 1935 as the Miami Beach Pro Championships then revived in 1948, then 1968 when it was part of the WCT Circuit from 1968, 1971–1974 and the Grand Prix tennis circuit from 1977–1978. The event was played on outdoor asphalt hard courts in 1935, 1948, 1968, 1971–1974, then switching to outdoor clay courts in 1977, and becoming an indoor carpet courts event in 1978. The tournament was last held in Hollywood, Miami, Florida, United States.

The Mexican Open or Mexican International is an international badminton competition held in Mexico. The Mexican Open has been held together with the Mexican National Championship of Badminton which main difference is that foreign players can participate in the former competition, while the latter is just reserved for Mexican badminton players. The original intention was that both tournaments would be held annually; however, due to different circumstances it has not always been this the case.

The Bombay Presidency Hard Court Championships or Bombay Hard Court Championships, also called the Bombay Presidency Hard Courts, was an international combined men's and women's tennis clay court tournament founded in 1924. The championships were played at the Hindu Gymkhana, Bombay, India. The championships ran until 1950 before being discontinued.

The Aix-Les-Bains International or Tournoi International d'Aix-Les-Bains was a men's and women's international clay court tennis tournament founded in 1914. The tournament was first held at the Société du Club des Sports, Aix-les-Bains, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The City of Miami Championships was a men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1917 as the Miami City Tennis Championships. The tournament was first played at the Henderson Park Tennis Club, Miami Florida, United States. Also known as the City of Miami Invitation Championships or simply the City of Miami Invitation the tournament ran until 1976 when it was discontinued. The tournament was part of the Caribbean Circuit, a regional sub circuit of the ILTF World Circuit.

The 1989 Pan Am Badminton Championships was the sixth edition of the Pan American Badminton Championships. The tournament was held from 4 to 10 December at the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec A.C. in Mexico City, Mexico. Eight countries competed in the championships.
