Pandora is the fifth extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Kara, released on August 22, 2012. [1]
On August 6, 2012, the title track of the album was revealed. [2] The song was apparently leaked at KBS' radio show, 2FM Super Junior's "Kiss the Radio" on August 17. Following the leak, the group's representatives and the staff working for the show apologized on Twitter and posted a message on the radio community board. [3]
On August 7, 2012, the title was revealed by Kara's agency and explained its origin from Greek mythology. The concept of the album was to show the group's matured charms through a modern interpretation of Pandora's Box . [2] Steward Ho for M.net noted that the group were about to "ditch their younger image and look more like empowered women". [4] Member Nicole Jung stated during the album's show case that the group aimed to display their "maturing feminism". [5]
The EP contains four songs plus an instrumental version of the title track. The group worked with Han Jae-ho and Kim Seung-soo along with Sweetune, who produced most of the group's past material. The title track, "Pandora", is a synthpop dance track. [2] [6]
The group held a showcase to promote the release of the Pandora EP at the Seoul Walkerhill Hotel on August 22. [7] The event was streamed live at M.net Global's website. The group's agency also stated that the members are devoting themselves towards the promotion of the album in South Korea. [7] [8] [9] [10]

The group began their weekly promotions for the album starting on KBS' Music Bank where they performed some of the album's songs including "Pandora" and "Miss U". [11]
A promotional truck that was entirely covered with the album's jacket cover traveled through various parts of Seoul, including Gangnam, Hongdae, Itaewon and Myeongdong. [12]
Enewsworld editor Erika Kim stated that the group had improved in their vocals. She complimented the member's role within the song and noted some influences from Japanese pop music such as the opening theme songs of magical-girl anime series like Sailor Moon . [13] Throughout the day of release, the members of the group also become the most searched terms on several popular Korean search engines which includes Naver and Daum. [14]
Following the music video's release, some concerns were raised regarding the group's suggestive choreography, a dance move where the members remove their jackets to reveal their backs. A representative for KBS's Music Bank stated that the group may need to make changes. However no changes were made when the group made their first televised performance on August 24 at the music program to start their weekly album promotion cycle. [11]
In South Korea, the EP peaked at number 1 in Gaon Album Chart, [15] and the title track peaked at number 2 in Gaon Digital Chart. The other three songs from the EP, "Way", "Miss U", and "Idiot" also placed on the Gaon Digital Chart. [16] In Japan, the EP debuted at number 104 in Oricon Albums Chart through importation from South Korea. After the Japanese edition was released, the EP peaked number 15 on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart. [17]

Kim Dong-wan is a South Korean entertainer, known as a member of South Korean boy band Shinhwa. He has been acting since 2002, and has starred in television dramas such as A Farewell to Sorrow and Children of Heaven. He has said that given the opportunity he would prefer a career in acting rather than as a singer, However, since the release of his debut album, he has stated that now he prefers singing more. From Shinhwa, Kim is the fourth member to go solo, following Lee Min-woo, Shin Hye-sung, and Jun Jin.
Lee Hyuk-jae, better known by his stage name Eunhyuk, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, dancer and television host. He is a member of the South Korean boy group Super Junior and its subgroups Super Junior-T and Super Junior-H. In 2011, he joined Super Junior's Mandopop subgroup Super Junior-M and the duo Super Junior-D&E, active in China and Japan respectively.
Kara is a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. The group's current lineup is Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, Jiyoung, and Youngji. Kara made their debut in March 2007 with their first studio album, The First Bloooooming, and its title track, "Break It." Originally a quartet composed of Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, and Kim Sunghee, Kara showcased a strong female image and a mature R&B sound. Expectations for the group were high because they were considered the successors to their senior labelmates, Fin.K.L; however, their debut was a commercial failure. The following year, Sunghee left the group due to parental pressure, and members Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung were added.
Pretty Girl is the second extended play by South Korean girl group Kara. It was released on December 4, 2008. A song with the same name was released as the title track to promote the album. The title track is a lively and upbeat track that showcases the group's catchy melodies and energetic choreography. A repackage of the EP, titled Honey , was released on February 12, 2009, and spawned the single "Honey".
Highlight is a South Korean boy band formerly known as Beast (Korean: 비스트). The band consists of four members: Yoon Doo-joon, Yang Yo-seob, Lee Gi-kwang, and Son Dong-woon. Originally a six-piece band, Jang Hyun-seung departed from the group in April 2016, and Yong Jun-hyung departed in March 2019. Revolution is the second studio album and second Korean material release by South Korean girl group Kara, released on July 30, 2009, by DSP Media. The album was the band's first regular release to be recorded under the second line-up, featuring members Goo Hara and Kang Jiyoung, who replaced Kim Sunghee after her withdrawal in 2008. The album was released in Japan on February 23, 2011.
Lupin is the third Korean extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Kara, released on February 17, 2010, by DSP. The concept and artwork of the album is based on French writer Maurice Leblanc's fictional gentleman thief, Arsène Lupin. The EP sold over 64,000 copies in 2010, ranking as the 16th best-selling album of the year in South Korea.

The Classic is the eleventh studio album of South Korean boy band Shinhwa, in commemoration of their 15th anniversary. It was released on 16 May 2013, by Shinhwa Company and distributed by CJ E&M Music. The group conducted an Asian concert tour, 2013 Shinhwa Grand Tour: The Classic in support of the album, with the first show in Hong Kong on 8 June 2013.
Full Bloom is the fourth studio album and the eighth overall studio album release by South Korean girl group Kara. It was released on September 2, 2013, with the song "Damaged Lady" used as the lead single. The song "Runaway" was released two weeks earlier, on August 21, as a preview for it. It is also the last Korean album to feature members Nicole Jung and Kang Ji-young who departed the group in 2014, though they would rejoin the group in 2022. The album was released one week later after the group's fourth Japanese studio album, Fantastic Girls.
