Pandora is the debut EP by American shoegaze musician Wisp, released on April 5, 2024, through Music Soup & Interscope Records.[1][2] It was first announced on March 15[3][4] with the release of a single, "Enough for You",[5][6] alongside a U.S. tour announcement, which began on April 19 in Dallas, Texas at The Studio at The Factory and ended on May 23 in Los Angeles.[7][8][9][10] The EP includes the previously released tracks "Your Face" and "See You Soon," the latter of which going viral.[11][12]
The songs on Pandora really dive into the intense emotions of longing and desire examples are "Your Face" and "See You Soon" tap into those moments when you're consumed by feelings of wanting someone but also feeling the weight of the barriers that keep you from fully expressing it. Whether it’s yearning for someone who’s just out of reach or the bittersweet feeling of knowing a relationship might be slipping away, these songs capture the struggle of wanting to connect but facing obstacles—be it distance, timing, or personal fears. It's about the complexity of navigating emotions when affection feels so strong, yet difficult to show.
Wisp has shared that she prefers to keep the deeper meanings of her songs a bit mysterious, but for "Your Face," she opened up. She mentioned that the song was inspired by someone she really enjoyed talking to.[13]
Felix Contreras and Robin Hilton acknowledged the album as "booming" shoegaze.[17] Mekala Rajagopal of Interview Magazine said the album was an imaginary place filled with dreams.[18]
Andrew Sacher of BrooklynVegan described Pandora as a "blend of different genres," merging classic shoegaze elements with a contemporary sound. He noted that the EP incorporates ethereal textures and heavier moments while maintaining a sense of immediacy. Sacher also highlighted Wisp's ability to appeal to both longtime shoegaze fans and new listeners.[19]
