The Papua New Guinea national basketball team is the team that represents Papua New Guinea in international basketball and is a member of FIBA Oceania. It is administered by the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea. [2]

Contents

The team is yet to qualify for the Olympic Games, FIBA World Cup, FIBA Asia Cup, and Commonwealth Games.

The inaugural edition of the tournament were hosted by Papua New Guinea from 27 to 30 September 2017. Matches were played at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre. It was officially launched on 19 May 2017.

The 2017 FIBA Women's Melanesian Basketball Cup was an international basketball tournament contested by nations of the newly formed Melanesia FIBA Oceania sub-zone. The inaugural edition of the women's tournament were held together alongside the Men's tournament in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 27 to 30 September 2017. Matches were played at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre. It was officially launched on 19 May 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Papua New Guinea at the 2019 Pacific Games</span> Sporting event delegation

Papua New Guinea competed at the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa from 7 to 20 July 2019. Team PNG participated in 23 out of the 26 sports on offer at the 2019 games.

The Papua New Guinea women's national 3x3 team is a national basketball team of Papua New Guinea. It is managed by the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) and represents the country in international 3x3 basketball competitions, including at the Pacific Games. The team won a silver medal at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games.

The men's and women's tournaments for 3x3 basketball were played at the 2019 Pacific Games on 18–20 July 2019 at the Faleata Sports Complex in Apia, Samoa. The 3x3 format of the game had been introduced to the Pacific Mini Games in 2017, but this was the first time it had been contested at the main Pacific Games.
