Parade were a British five piece girl group, who were formerly signed to Asylum Records. The band had five members: Emily Biggs, Lauren Deegan, Bianca Claxton, Jessica Agombar and Sian Charlesworth. On 11 February 2013, it was confirmed via the Parade Twitter account the group had split following the departure of Bianca Claxton. Agombar and Claxton have embarked on solo careers, with Agombar releasing the tracks "Bam Bam" and "Bam Bam Pt. 2" in 2014. Claxton released her debut EP Hi-5 on 17 May 2015 and entered the selection for the UK Eurovision Song Content entry in 2016. Agombar releasing her debut EP later in 2015; with Claxton releasing her debut album in the not-too-near future. Agombar has since found success as a songwriter, co-writing I Love You's for Hailee Steinfeld, What a Man Gotta Do for Jonas Brothers and Dynamite for K-pop boy group BTS, which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and internationally.

History

Before Parade

Before joining Parade, Biggs was a member in the girl group Hope and Charlesworth was a member of the girl group City Girls. Agombar also had a role in St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold.

2009-2011: Parade

Their debut single "Louder" reached number 10 in the Official Charts. This was followed by "Perfume" which reached number 38. Their self-titled debut album, Parade , was released in November 2011. The album, despite yielding a top ten hit, underperformed and missed the UK top 100, coming in at a low #171. Due to the poor sales of the album, Parade were dropped from Asylum Records. The band became ambassadors of women's football, Clean and Clear and St. Tropez self-tan.

2012: Second studio album and split

The group spent 2012 working on their second studio album. They collaborated with successful UK producer Tim Powell, who has written and produced for the likes of Girls Aloud and Sugababes, on tracks including "Light Me Up". According to Twitter posts, they also worked with Ed Drewett, Fred Ball, MNEK, K-Gee, Jamal Hadaway and Tre Jean-Marie. [1] [2]

On 11 July 2012, through their official blog, they announced "Light Me Up" as the first song to be posted online from their new album. [3] It was released as a free download on 1 August 2012.

On 11 February 2013, it was announced through the group's Twitter account that Claxton had decided to leave Parade, and that as a result, the other members had decided not to continue as a group. [4] They also revealed that they were unsigned throughout 2012 to 2013, after being dropped by their record label in 2011. They released an official statement on the subject of their split:

"Dear Fans, we have some news that we're gutted to announce - sadly Bianca has chosen to leave the band. As you all know, the 5 of us make Parade and without all of us together the band would not be the same! We hope you understand that we've made the difficult decision to not carry on without her, as Parade is about the 5 of us girls. We cannot thank our fans enough for your incredible support as without you lot we wouldn't have achieved the success that we've had. In the last year as an unsigned band, we've written and recorded some wicked tracks and as a thank you we'd like to give something back for your love and patience. Watch our facebook page for more information. Thank you for coming on this rollercoaster of a ride with us and look out for us in the future! Love Parade x"

In February 2013, a SoundCloud account under the username "user123330693" leaked a previously unreleased track called "Lose It" which was originally intended to be included on their debut album. The song was reportedly produced by RedOne and heavily samples Reel 2 Real's "I Like To Move It". At a later date the account debuted 4 more new tracks recorded for their unreleased second album called "Chaos", "(Come) On The Double" and "Puppet Master (Dance For Me)". In early March "Throw It Up In The Air", which was part of their setlist for their UK tour when supporting The Wanted, was also released via the SoundCloud user.

Performances

Parade were the support act for Shakira [5] and Alexandra Burke. [6] They also supported Shayne Ward on his "Up Close and Personal" UK tour in March 2011 and for The Wanted 'The Code' UK Tour 2012. Parade performed on the 'big top' stage at the Isle of Wight Festival 2011, [7] and at the Isle of MTV 2011 in Malta. Parade were one of the supporting acts for the Black Eyed Peas at their Alton Towers Concert on 6 July 2011. The band also supported Westlife [8] and supported Boyzone at Lytham Proms. A second support slot for Boyzone was at the Inverness Show on 27 August 2011. [9] They supported The Wanted on their UK arena tour "The Code" in Spring 2012.

Westlife are an Irish boy band, formed in 1998 in Sligo, Ireland. They disbanded in 2012 and reunited in 2018. They were originally signed by Simon Cowell in the UK, Clive Davis in the US and managed by Louis Walsh and Sonny Takhar. In Autumn 2001, Donaghy departed the group and was replaced by Heidi Range. With Range's introduction, the group began to experience a higher level of commercial success, going on to release three multi-Platinum selling albums: Angels with Dirty Faces (2002), Three (2003) and Taller in More Ways (2005). In December 2005, Buena left the band and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. Following the release of their first greatest hits album, the new line-up released two further studio albums: Change (2007) and Catfights and Spotlights (2008).

Boyzone Irish boyband, founded 1993

Boyzone were an Irish boy band. They were put together in 1993 by Louis Walsh, who is also known for managing Johnny Logan and Westlife. Before even recording any material, Boyzone made an appearance on RTÉ's The Late Late Show. Their most famous line-up was composed of Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating, and Shane Lynch. As of 2018, Boyzone have released seven studio albums and nine compilation albums.

Blue (English group) English boy band

Blue are an English boy band consisting of members Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe. The group originally formed in 2000 and has released three studio albums, All Rise (2001), One Love (2002) and Guilty (2003) that all peaked at number one in the United Kingdom alongside releasing 16 singles, over a four-year period. The group also worked alongside artists such as Stevie Wonder, Elton John and Lil' Kim. In late 2004, the group announced a hiatus and released their first compilation album, Best of Blue, on 15 November 2004.

Clea was an English girl group whose members met on the television show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. Chloe Morgan, Lynsey Brown, Emma Beard, and Aimee Kearsley, decided to form a band after they were voted off the series. The name 'Clea' is an acronym of the first letter of each member's name.

We the Kings is an American rock band from Bradenton, Florida. The band's self-titled full-length debut album, released in 2007, included the platinum single "Check Yes Juliet", and went on to sell over 250,000 copies in the US. The group's second album Smile Kid (2009) included Top 40 singles "Heaven Can Wait" and "We'll Be a Dream", as well as the single "She Takes Me High".

The Saturdays British girl group

The Saturdays are a British-Irish girl group based in London, England. The group formed during the summer of 2007 and have been on hiatus since 2014. The lineup consists of Frankie Bridge, Una Healy, Rochelle Humes, Mollie King, and Vanessa White. They were formed through Fascination Records, a sub-division of Polydor Records, who gave them an instant record deal with the label. As soon as the contract was finalised, the Saturdays went on tour with Girls Aloud during their Tangled Up Tour. The group's music style is pop, but throughout their career, their management has experimented with dance-pop and electropop. Songwriters and producers Ina Wroldsen, Steve Mac, Camille Purcell, and Quiz & Larossi have helped create their music. In July 2008, the Saturdays released their debut single and first Top Ten hit, "If This Is Love". Their debut album, Chasing Lights, released the same year, charted at number nine on the UK Albums Chart; it was certified platinum by the BPI and produced three more top ten singles: "Up", "Issues", and "Just Can't Get Enough". "Work" was also released from the album. The group's first concert tour, The Work Tour, took place in 2009. The group's second album, Wordshaker, produced the Top Ten hits "Forever Is Over" and "Ego". "Picture of You" is a song by Irish boy band Boyzone, released as the first single from their third studio album, Where We Belong (1998). Written by frontman Ronan Keating, Eliot Kennedy, and producers Absolute, the song peaked at No. 2 in both Ireland and the United Kingdom and led to Keating winning an Ivor Novello Award. It is best remembered as the main theme song for the film Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie, for which Rowan Atkinson appeared as his character with the band on both the single cover and in the music video.

Brother is the fourth studio album by Irish boy band Boyzone, released on 5 March 2010 in Ireland. It is the band's first studio album in 12 years since Where We Belong (1998). The album is named in memory of member Stephen Gately, who died in 2009 five months before its release. However, Gately's vocals did appear on the band's songs "Gave It All Away" and "Stronger", making it the final album to feature Gately's vocals, until the release of Boyzone's final album in 2018.

Wonderland (band) Irish girlband

Wonderland were an Irish girlband, formed by Louis Walsh and Westlife band-member Kian Egan. The band were put together after auditions were held for five females in July 2008. Its five members were Jodi Albert, Sharon Condon, Corrina Durran, Leigh Learmont, and Kasey Smith. Wonderland's debut single "Not a Love Song" was released on 25 February 2011 in Ireland and on 6 March 2011 in the United Kingdom. Their eponymous debut album was released on 6 June 2011, the same day as their second single, "Starlight". Wonderland released their third single, "Nothing Moves Me Anymore", in August 2011. The following month, it was announced the band had been dropped by their record label. The group later decided to split up.

MNEK British singer, songwriter and record producer

Uzoechi Osisioma "Uzo" Emenike, professionally known by his stage name MNEK, is a British recording artist, musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He has been nominated for a Grammy and he received the ASCAP Vanguard Award. His writing and production credits include H.E.R., Jax Jones, Zara Larsson, Little Mix, Dua Lipa, Sugababes, Clean Bandit, Julia Michaels, Craig David, Christina Aguilera, Becky Hill, Selena Gomez, Years & Years, Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé, Madonna, KSI and Twice.

Sian Charlesworth is an English singer and former member of girl group Parade.

Little Mix British girl group

Little Mix are a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth series of the British version of The X Factor. The group consists of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock; former member Jesy Nelson departed the group in December 2020. The first group to win The X Factor, they signed with Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Music. They released a cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball" as their winner's single, which debuted atop the UK Singles Chart upon release. The group are known for their strong vocals and signature harmonies, as well as their representative songs about female empowerment and unity.

Stooshe

Stooshe are a British girl group from London, consisting of members Alexandra Buggs, Karis Anderson and Courtney Rumbold. Initially signed to Warner Music they released of their first single "Love Me", featuring American rapper Travie McCoy, in 2012. Later that year Stooshe was nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2012 poll.

Marcus Collins is an English singer who finished as the runner-up of the eighth series of The X Factor in 2011. Collins finished second to 4-piece girlband Little Mix. Whilst on The X Factor, he was mentored by Take That frontman Gary Barlow, who continued to work with Collins on his debut album.

Living for the Weekend is the fourth and most recent studio album by British girl group the Saturdays. It was first released on 11 October 2013, and in the United Kingdom on 14 October 2013, by Fascination Records and its associated record labels. Living for the Weekend was recorded between 2011 and 2013 in Los Angeles, London and New York City. Longtime collaborator Steve Mac returned to work on the album, as well as enlisting a wide range of new producers and writers including Rodney Jerkins, Autumn Rowe, Diane Warren, Carl Ryden, DNA Songs, David Schuler, Priscilla Renea, Camille Purcell, Jim Jonsin and many more. The album was preceded by their first US release, an EP called Chasing the Saturdays.

BZ20 is the fifth studio album by Irish boy band Boyzone, released on 22 November 2013 by Rhino Records. It was mainly produced by Brian Rawling, Paul Meehan, and Matt Furmidge. As of October 2014, the album had sold 250,000 copies worldwide.
