The Parbo Bier Cup is a bi-annual International football tournament, which is organized by the Stichting Internationaal Voetbal Suriname (SIVS) of which former Surinamese-Dutch International Stanley Menzo is the chairman. The beer brewery Parbo is the sponsor of the tournament after which it was named. [1]

The 2003 Parbo Bier Cup marked the first edition of the tournament contested from the 15th to 19 January. The participants included Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda and Surinamese Hoofdklasse clubs S.V. Robinhood, S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Voorwaarts. NAC Breda won the first Parbo Bier Cup, winning all their matches, defeating Transvaal (5–0) in their final match. Transvall finished the tournament as runner-up, leaving Voorwaarts in third, and Robinhood in fourth place. [2]
The 2004 edition of the Parbo Bier Cup was contested by the national teams of the Netherlands Antilles and Suriname, plus two SVB Hoofdklasse clubs, S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Leo Victor. The Netherlands Antilles won the cup with seven points, defeating Transvaal (2–1), Leo Victor (3–2), and drawing with Suriname (1–1), clinching the second edition of the tournament. [3]
The Parbo Bier Cup 2005 was the third edition of the tournament. Participating teams were Dutch Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk, and Surinamese Hoofdklasse clubs S.V. Transvaal, FCS Nacional and SBCS. RKC Waalwijk won all their matches thus winning the cup, followed by Transvaal, Nacional and SBCS, each having won one match, deciding the final placement on goal difference. [4]
The Parbo Bier Cup of 2007 was the fourth edition of the tournament. The participating teams were the under-23 teams of French Guiana-U23, Guyana-U23, Suriname-U23 and the Suriprofs, an unofficial team made up of Surinamese expatriates living in Europe. The Suriname under-23 team won the tournament with seven points, defeating Guyana (2–1), drawing with French Guiana (0–0) and defeating the Suriprofs (1–0). [5]
The Parbo Bier Cup of 2009 was the fifth edition of the tournament and was held on the 3rd, 5th and 7 June. The four participating teams were the national teams of Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname which was represented by a selection of players of the Suriname national team and the Suriprofs. In 2011 the Parbo Bier Cup was cancelled, due to the fact that the main sponsors of the Surinamese Football Association (SVB) at the André Kamperveen Stadion had left no room for the main sponsors of the tournament at the stadium. [7]
The participants for the 2012 edition of the Parbo Bier Cup were the Suriprofs/Natio, the national team of Guyana and Dutch Eredivisie club SBV Vitesse. [8] Vitesse finished the tournament as winners of the cup, while Vitesse player Jonathan Reis was awarded the golden boot award as the most valuable player of the tournament. [9]

The Suriname national football team represents Suriname in international football. The team is controlled by the Surinamese Football Association, which is a member of CONCACAF.
Sport Vereniging Transvaal is a Surinamese association football club, which plays in the top of football in Suriname. They play their home games in Paramaribo at André Kamperveen Stadion to a capacity of 7,100.
André Kamperveen Stadium, formerly the National Stadion, is a multi-purpose stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. Since its opening in 1953, the stadium has been the official home stadium of both football teams S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Robinhood and the official national stadium of the Suriname national football team. With an official capacity of 7,100, it is the largest stadium in Suriname.
Sport Vereniging Robinhood is a Surinamese professional football club based in Paramaribo that competes in the highest level of football in Suriname. Founded on 6 February 1945, Robinhood is the most successful club in Surinamese football, having won a record 25 league titles, and a record of five Beker van Surinames and President's Cups apiece. The club was the first Surinamese club to make the final of a North American tournament, reaching the 1972 CONCACAF Champions' Cup final. Though making five CONCACAF club championship finals in their history, Robinhood had never won a continental title until 2023, when they won both the 2023 Caribbean Shield and the 2023 Caribbean Cup.
The SVB Eerste Divisie is the second highest football championship for clubs run by the Surinaamse Voetbal Bond. The league currently comprises twelve teams and operates a system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from November to June of the next year, with teams playing 30 games in the regular season. The league was known as the Hoofdklasse but became Topklasse beginning with the 2016–17 season, and then from the 2017–18 season forward, the Eerste Divisie. In 2024 the SVB introduced a new professional competition while the Eerste Divisie will serve as the nations top amateur competition.
Sport Vereniging Voorwaarts is an association football club from Paramaribo, Suriname.
The 2009 CFU Club Championship was the 11th edition of the CFU Club Championship, the annual international club football competition in the Caribbean region, held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). The top three teams in the tournament – W Connection, Puerto Rico Islanders, and San Juan Jabloteh – qualified for the 2009–10 CONCACAF Champions League.
Four teams from Central America and five from the Caribbean qualified to the 2011 CONCACAF U-20 Championship to be played in Guatemala. Canada, Mexico, and United States automatically qualified.

The qualifying competition for the 2010 Caribbean Championship was a football tournament held from 2 October to 14 November 2010 to determine the qualifying teams for the 2010 Caribbean Championship. 21 teams entered the qualifying competition, with six teams qualifying for the final tournament. The tournament was played over two rounds. In the first round, the 15 lowest ranked teams competed in three groups of four and one group of three in a round-robin. The winners of the four groups and the two best runners-up of the three groups of four advanced to the second round. In the second round, the six qualifying teams from the first round joined the second through seventh highest ranked teams from the 2008 Caribbean Championship to compete in three groups of four in a round-robin. The two best teams from each group advanced to join Martinique and Jamaica in the final tournament.
Ronald Wilfried Kolf is a former Surinamese football manager and player who last served as the technical director of the Suriname national team and a board member of Surinamese football club S.V. Leo Victor.
Walther Braithwaite was a former Surinamese football manager and player who played as a midfielder and left back in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse for S.V. Transvaal and S.V. Voorwaarts. He also managed the Suriname national team for the nations 1978 and 1986 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaigns, finishing in eighth place in the finals in Mexico in the 1978 edition.
Humbert Ronald Boerleider, known as Boelie, was a Surinamese football manager and player who played as a midfielder in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse for S.V. Transvaal. He also played one season in the SVB Derde Klasse for V.V. Ajax before returning to Transvaal. He was an assistant coach for Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands, and managed S.V. Transvaal and the Suriname national team for the nations 1974 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Armand Sahadewsing was a former Surinamese football player and manager who has played for S.V. Transvaal in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse, and for AFC DWS in the Dutch Eredivisie. He also played for the Suriname national team and later managed the team for the country's 1982 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Wensley Rinaldo Bundel is a former Surinamese football manager and player who last managed S.V. Transvaal in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse.
Frank Mijnals is a Surinamese former football player who has played for S.V. Robinhood in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse, and for USV Elinkwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie. He also played for the Suriname national team.
George W. Streepy Stadion is an association football stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname. It is home to the SVB Youth League and is operated by the SVB's youth football section. The stadium has a capacity of 3,000 people.
