The Parco delle Groane e della Brughiera Briantea ("Park of the Groane and Brianza moorland") is a nature reserve in Lombardy, Italy. Established in 1976 and enlarged in 2017, it covers over 8,000 hectares of woods and moorlands (locally knowns as groane) in the upper Po Plain northwest of Milan (between 160 and 300 meters above sea level), across the territory of 28 municipalities in the provinces of Milan, Como and Monza. The park was originally called Parco delle Groane and had an area of 3,695 hectares, but grew to over 8,200 in December 2017, when it absorbed the former PLIS Parco della Brughiera Briantea and the Fontana del Guercio Natural Reserve. [3]
About one quarter of the park's area is covered in woods, mostly oak (Cornish oak and pedunculate oak) and pine (Scotch pines) forests, but Silver birches, sycamores, hornbeams, field elms and European ashes are also present. The rest of the park consist of moorland and farmland. [4] [5]
The fauna is varied. Amphibians include the Italian crested newt, the smooth newt, the European tree frog, the agile frog, the Italian agile frog, the edible frog, the fire salamander, the common toad, and the European green toad. Reptiles include the Western green lizard, the European wall lizard, the slow worm, the asp viper, the smooth snake and the grass snake. [6] [7]
Among the many bird species, the European green woodpecker, the great spotted woodpecker, the common kestrel, the common buzzard, the European honey buzzard, the Eurasian sparrowhawk, and the long-eared owl can be mentioned. Mammals include squirrels, dormouses, voles, hares, hedgehogs, moles, shrews, vesper bats, beech martens, weasels, foxes, badgers and in recent times, red deer. [8] [9]
The park is crossed by sixteen hiking paths, with a combined length of 100 kilometres. [10] [11] [12]
Gerede is a town in Bolu Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is located on the highway from Istanbul to Ankara. It is the seat of Gerede District. Its population is 23,547 (2021). Elevation is about 1,300 m. The mayor is Mustafa Allar (AKP).
Silkosia is a nature reserve in Strandzha Nature Park, located in the homonymous mountain, southeastern Bulgaria. Its territory close to the villages Kosti and Balgari. Silkosia is the oldest reserve in the country, declared on 23 July 1931 in order to protect the evergreen bushes unique for Europe. It encompasses part of the Veleka river catchment area with a territory of 389.6 ha or 3.896 km2. The terrain is various, in the lower parts there are predominantly swamp areas with typical Central European flora. The reserve encompasses territory between 100 and 250 m altitude and is thus among the lowest-lying nature reserves in the country.
The wildlife of Algeria is composed of its flora and fauna. Mountains, chotts, wetlands, and grassy desert-like regions all support a wide range of wildlife. The most commonly seen animals include the wild boars, jackals, and gazelles, although it is not uncommon to spot fennecs and jerboas. Leopards and cheetahs are seldom seen.

Uzunbodzhak, also transliterated as Ouzounboudjak is an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, one of the five nature reserves in Strandzha Nature Park in south-eastern Bulgaria. The reserve is sometimes called Lopushna. Uzunbodzhak was established on 13 December 1956 and was included in the UNESCO network of biosphere reserves in March 1977. It covers an area of 2529.6 hectares, or 25.296 km2. All economic activities are prohibited on the territory of the reserve.

The Sierras of Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park is a protected area in the Spanish provinces of Málaga and Granada. It contains the Sierra de Tejeda and Sierra de Almijara mountains. The park is mountainous and is partly covered by pine forests at the lower levels, while typical Mediterranean vegetation is found higher up. There is a large number of endemic species.
The Litorale Romano state nature reserve is a protected area in Lazio (Italy), established by the Ministry of the Environment with Ministerial Decree of March 29, 1996, which includes a large territory of historical-naturalistic interest within the municipalities of Rome and Fiumicino.
With its over 17,000 hectares, discontinuously distributed along the Lazio coast between Palidoro and Capocotta, it is the largest protected area overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Its management is entrusted to the two municipalities in their respective sections of competence.

The Parco della Pineta di Appiano Gentile e Tradate is a nature reserve in Lombardy, Italy. Established in 1983, it covers the eponymous pine forest in northwestern Lombardy, between the provinces of Como and Varese, stretching over 4,800 hectares in the territory of fifteen municipalities. The Site of Community Importance of the pine forest of Appiano Gentile, part of the Natura 2000 network, is part of the park.
