The New Orleans Saints selected Adebo in the third round (76th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. [11] The New Orleans Saints secured their ability to draft Adebo by orchestrating a trade in which they sent two third round picks (98th and 105th overall) in the 2021 NFL Draft to the New York Giants in return for the 76th overall pick. Adebo was the 11th cornerback drafted in 2021.
On June 9, 2021, the New Orleans Saints signed Adebo to a four-year, $5.04 million contract that includes a signing bonus of $1.02 million. [12]
Throughout training camp, Adebo competed to be a starting cornerback after the retirement of Janoris Jenkins left a role vacant. He began the season in competition with Patrick Robinson until Robinson suddenly retired on August 10. The Saints would sign Prince Amukamara and hold an open competition that also included veterans Brian Poole, Grant Haley, P. J. Williams, and Ken Crawley. [13] Head coach Sean Payton named Adebo and Marshon Lattimore the starting cornerbacks to start the regular season.
On September 12, 2021, Adebo started in his professional regular season debut and recorded three combined tackles (two solo), a pass deflection, and had his first career interception off a pass thrown by Aaron Rodgers intended for wide receiver Davante Adams to return it for 33-yards as the Saints routed the Green Bay Packers 38–3 in their home-opener. [14] The following week, he collected a season-high seven combined tackles (six solo) during a 7–26 loss at the Carolina Panthers in Week 2. On January 9, 2022, Adebo recorded five combined tackles (three solo), a season-high two pass deflections, while intercepting a pass by quarterback Matt Ryan in a 20–30 victory over the Atlanta Falcon. [15] He started in all 17 games as a rookie and finished the 2021 NFL season with a total of 66 combined tackles (55 solo), eight passes defensed, and three interceptions while appearing in 850 (76%) of the team's defensive snaps. [16] [17]
In the 2022 season, Adebo finished with 60 total tackles (51 solo) and seven passes defended in 13 games. [18]
In Week 9 of the 2023 season, Adebo recorded seven tackles, three pass breakups, two interceptions, a forced fumble and recovery in a 24–17 win over the Chicago Bears, earning National Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. [19]
Adebo started 7 games for the Saints in 2024, logging 3 interceptions and 52 combined tackles. In the Saints' week 7 game against the Denver Broncos, Adebo suffered a broken femur and was ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery. [20]
