Percy Ingle was a retail bakery founded in east London in 1954, by Percy Ingle. [1] The chain had over 50 outlets in London and Essex. [2]
As of 2010, Michael and Paul Ingle, grandsons of the founder, were running the company. [3]
On 22 June 2020, the Newham Recorder reported that the bakery was "due to close all its stores after 66 years". The paper reported that "head office has confirmed the closure", but that "an official statement is yet to be released". [4]

The Abbey Mills Mosque, also known as the London Markaz or Masjid-e-Ilyas, is a temporary mosque located in Stratford, east London, accommodating around 2,500 people. Plans were made to expand the capacity of the mosque to what would have been the largest religious building in Britain – three times the size of St Paul's Cathedral – and one of the largest mosques in western Europe. For this reason the proposed building is often informally referred to in the press as the "mega-mosque". The mosque extension was to have been built by Tablighi Jamaat, near the site of the London 2012 Olympic Park. Anjuman-e-Islahul Muslimeen, Tablighi Jamaat's charitable trust, has been the owner of the site since 1996. The Tablighi Jamaat website devoted to the mosque places the maximum capacity at 12,000 worshipers.

Amrik "Mik" Basi MBE is a British boxing referee based at Fairbairn Boxing Club in Manor Park in the London Borough of Newham. He took the Olympic Oath during the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony on behalf of officials. During the Games he acted as referee or judge in both men's and women's boxing, and officiated a total of 38 matches including refereeing the men's light heavyweight final, becoming the first British official to Referee a final. He received the AIBA award as the top boxing official at the tournament. In 2013, Mik won the best AIBA Referee & Judge award, in 2014 he won the best World Series Boxing Referee & Judge award and in 2015 he won the best AIBA Pro Boxing Referee & Judge award, an achievement unlikely ever to be repeated. In 2016, Mik acted as referee or judge in both men's and women's boxing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first ever British referee/judge to officiate at two Olympic Games.
City Hall, in the London Borough of Newham in east London, is the headquarters of the Greater London Authority (GLA), the regional government for Greater London. It replaced the previous City Hall, in Southwark in 2022. The building opened in 2012 and was previously an exhibition centre for sustainable architecture, known as The Crystal. At the time it opened, it was the first building in the world to reach the highest sustainable award level. It was bought by the GLA in 2019 for the docklands redevelopment project.
The Gallions Reach Crossing is a proposed River Thames crossing close to Gallions Reach in East London, running between Beckton in the London Borough of Newham and Thamesmead in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Originally a proposed ferry crossing replacing the Woolwich Ferry, later plans suggested either a bridge or a tunnel. It is being developed in conjunction with the Belvedere Crossing, just downriver.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital London was the first of the NHS Nightingale Hospitals, temporary hospitals set up by NHS England for the COVID-19 pandemic. It was housed in the ExCeL London convention centre in East London. The hospital was rapidly planned and constructed, being formally opened on 3 April and receiving its first patients on 7 April 2020. It served 54 patients during the first wave of the pandemic, and was used to serve non-COVID patients and provide vaccinations during the second wave. It was closed in April 2021.
