Zaks Diners is a British restaurant chain of American-themed diners, founded as a takeaway business in 1976 by Harvey Platt. The chain is based in Norwich, England. They are the second-largest American-themed diner chain in the UK, behind OK Diner.
In May 1976, local musician and entrepreneur Harvey Platt felt that Norwich needed "a slice of America" and purchased an old café caravan, and began selling burgers wrapped in tin-oil and cooked to order. [1] In 1979, Zaks opened their first physical restaurant, also in Norwich.[ citation needed ]
In 1998, the chain was acquired by Blue Sky Leisure. [2]
In July 2013, the chain announced its plans to begin franchising locations. [3] [4]
In January 2020, Chris Carr and Ian Hacon purchased the chain from Blue Sky Leisure. [5] Later in 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the chain reverted to selling from caravans again whilst normal trading was suspended. [6] [7]
In August 2022, the chain purchased the iconic Yankee Traveller in Great Yarmouth. [8]

A&W Restaurants, Inc. is an American fast food restaurant chain distinguished by its "Burger Family" combos, draft root beer and root beer floats. The oldest extant restaurant chain in the United States, A&W's origins date back to 1919 when Roy W. Allen set up a roadside drink stand to offer a new thick and creamy drink, root beer, at a parade honoring returning World War I veterans in Lodi, California. Allen's employee Frank Wright partnered with him in 1922 and they founded their first restaurant in Sacramento, California, in 1923. The company name was taken from the initials of their last names – Allen and Wright. The company became famous in the United States for its "frosty mugs" – the mugs were kept in a freezer and filled with A&W Root Beer just before being served to customers.

The Iron Duke is grade II listed public house in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. It was designed by A. W. Ecclestone in the late 1930s and completed in 1948. Building work started in the Art Deco period; however, work was halted due to the outbreak of World War II. Despite being unfinished, a Special Licence was granted so that the Iron Duke could serve the troops stationed locally. The bars in the pub are made from teak taken from the First World War battleship HMS Iron Duke, which was captained by Admiral John Jellicoe at the Battle of Jutland. The pub was decorated with murals of the battle. The pub, listed as Grade II, now has a campaign to be restored. The pub is owned by Bourne Leisure, who has kept the pub closed for twenty years to prevent a rivel venue from opening next to their camp. Ecclestone was a skilled architect, and Lacons employed had an army of master builders. Everything was done in-house. The Iron Duke was built as their flagship pub.
