Persatuan Sepakbola Pegunungan Arfak, simply known as Persegaf, is an Indonesian football club based in Arfak Mountains, West Papua that competes in Liga 3 [6] and play their home match at Irai Field.

History

Persegaf was officially formed in 2019. Representing Arfak Mountains Regency, but Persegaf chose Manokwari as the training camp location because of the lack of sports facilities in the Arfak Mountains. [2]

At the 2023 Liga 3 West Papua, Persegaf was chosen to host the competition. Persegaf again chose Manokwari as the venue for the competition. [2]

The Arfak Mountains is a mountain range found on the Bird's Head Peninsula in the Province of West Papua, Indonesia.

Sougb, or Sogh, is a Papuan language of the East Bird's Head language family spoken in the east of the Bird's Head Peninsula to the east of Meyah and to the south of Manokwari, including the area of Soug Jaya District, Teluk Wondama Regency. It consists of four dialects and is spoken by around 12,000 people in all. The language is alternatively known as Mantion, or Manikion, an originally derogatory term used by the Biak people.

It spans from near the coast up to the highest point in the province, Pegunungan Arfak, at 2,955 m (9,695 ft).

Manokwari Regency is a regency in West Papua, Indonesia. Following the splitting away of twenty of its former districts in 2013, it now covers an area of 2,762.89 km2 and had a population of 192,663 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 201,821. The administrative centre is presently at the town of Manokwari, which is also the capital of the province.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mount Arfak</span>

Mount Arfak is the highest point in the province of West Papua. It is located on north-east side of the Bird's Head Peninsula. It is a popular hiking area and is the highest peak of the Arfak Mountains. From the summit, Manokwari can be seen. The summit of Mt. Arfak is temperate and dry with very hot, dry summer temperatures that average below 95 °F (35 °C) and mild, humid winter temperatures that average above 38 °F (3 °C). During the winter months, the mountain's summit receives frost usually and sometimes can get to 33 °F (0 °C) every now and then. Sometimes snow can fall on the summit, but not every year. Average rain amount per year is about 45 inches (1150 mm). The mountain is part of the Pegunungan Arfak Nature Reserve, a 683-square-kilometer (264 sq mi) protected area that protects parts of the Vogelkop montane rain forests ecoregion. The mountain is also the highest point in the Manokwari metropolitan area.

Arfak Mountains Regency is a regency of the West Papua Province of Indonesia. It was formed in 2013 from the western districts of Manokwari Regency. The areas now comprised in the new regency had a population of 23,877 at the 2010 Census, which rose to 38,941 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 40,685. The administrative centre is the town of Anggi.

The province comprises the Greater Sorong area which consists of Sorong City, Sorong Regency, South Sorong Regency, Maybrat Regency, Tambrauw Regency, and Raja Ampat Regency. The Bill (RUU) on the Establishment of the Southwest Papua Province was passed into law and therefore it became the 38th province in Indonesia.

The 2023 Liga 3 West Papua is the fourth edition organized by Asprov PSSI West Papua.
