Phanos is a Dutch athletics club. Its home stadium is the Olympic stadium in Amsterdam.
The club was founded in 1999–2000. The club was formed in a merger of two clubs, AV Sagitta (founded 1936) and AV Blauw Wit (founded 1917).
The name Phanos, meaning "torch" in Greek, refers to the "Marathon-tower" situated just outside the Olympic stadium, where in 1928 the Olympic fire burned.
Since the founding of Phanos, the club has known many successful members. Some of today's successful members are as follows:

The most famous member of Phanos was Fanny Blankers-Koen, even though she was member of AV Sagitta and objected to the merger between Sagitta and Blauw Wit. Other honored athletes from Phanos are Hans Fokkens, Simon ter Laare, Tjerk Vellinga and Wim Visser.

Francina "Fanny" Elsje Blankers-Koen was a Dutch track and field athlete, best known for winning four gold medals at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. She competed there as a 30-year-old mother of two, earning her the nickname "the Flying Housewife", and was the most successful athlete at the event.
Football Club Utrecht is a Dutch professional football club based in Utrecht. The club competes in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, and plays its home matches at the Stadion Galgenwaard.

Marcel Reinier Wouda is a Dutch former swimmer, who became the first Dutch world champion in men's swimming when he won the world title in the 200 m individual medley at the 1998 World Aquatics Championships in Perth, Australia. He was the coach of Olympic champions Maarten van der Weijden and Hinkelien Schreuder at the Nationaal Zweminstituut Eindhoven.
FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam was a Dutch football club from Amsterdam. The name referred to the colours of their uniform, blue and white.
FC Amsterdam was a Dutch football club which was founded on 20 June 1972, from the merger of the Amsterdam football clubs Blauw Wit and DWS. The club Volewijckers joined the side for the 1973–1974 season, in which season FC Amsterdam finished as 5th of the 18 clubs in the Dutch top-league. After a successful start, in which the club made it to the quarter-finals of the 1974–75 UEFA Cup defeating Italian giants Inter Milan in the process, the club was relegated from the Eredivisie to the Eerste Divisie in the 1977-1978 season. This resulted in a massive reduction in spectator numbers for FC Amsterdam, with the club moving out of the Olympic Stadium in 1980. The side disbanded in May 1982, after the 1981-1982 season.
Alida de Vries was a Dutch athlete, who finished in fifth position at the 1936 Summer Olympics in the 4 x 100 m relay event alongside Kitty ter Braake, Fanny Blankers-Koen and Elisabeth Koning. She was born in Den Helder. She died at the age of 92 in her hometown Amsterdam.
The Eerste Divisie 2009–10 was the 54th season of the Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1956. The previous year's winners were VVV-Venlo; they, with runner-up RKC Waalwijk, after a promotion/relegation playoff win over De Graafschap, were promoted to the Eredivisie. Twenty teams took part: eighteen from the 2008–2009 season and relegated teams FC Volendam and De Graafschap. The season's champion was promoted to the Eredivisie, while eight other teams, the second- through fifth-place finishers and period winners, faced the Eredivisie's sixteenth- and seventeenth-place finishers in promotion/relegation playoffs. For the first time since 1971, Eerste Divisie clubs also faced relegation; the last- and second-to-last-place teams were relegated to the new Topklasse, in which the best teams from Dutch amateur football play. The 2009–10 Eerste Divisie was sponsored by the Belgian beer brand Jupiler and so the official name of the league was Jupiler League.
Jamile Samuel is a Dutch athlete sprinter, who specialises in the 100 and 200 metres. She won three bronze medals at the 2010 World Junior Championships in Athletics, thus establishing herself as the third-fastest female runner under the age of 20 in the world. She won a gold medal with the Dutch women's 4 × 100 m relay team at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam.
Netherlands competed at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece. The team included 95 athletes, 53 men and 42 women. Competitors from Netherlands won 29 medals, including 5 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze to finish 27th in the medal table.
The Women's 200 metres at the 1952 Summer Olympics took place on July 25 (heats) and July 26 (final) at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Australian athlete Marjorie Jackson, who had already won the final in the 100 metres event, earned a second gold medal while setting two world records along the way.

Johan "Jan" Blankers was a Dutch athlete and coach. He competed in the triple jump at the 1928 Olympics, but failed to reach the final. He won the national title in this event in 1931 and 1932, but later tore an Achilles tendon, which resulted in his retirement and in a slight limping for the rest of his life.
Nissewaard is a municipality in the Netherlands, located on the island of Voorne-Putten, in the south of the province of South Holland. It was created through a merger of the municipalities of Spijkenisse and Bernisse on 1 January 2015.
