Ryan Steven Lochte is an American competitive swimmer and 12-time Olympic medalist. Along with Natalie Coughlin, Dara Torres, and Jenny Thompson, he is the second-most decorated swimmer in Olympic history measured by total number of medals, behind only Michael Phelps. Lochte's seven individual Olympic medals rank second in history in men's swimming, tied for second among all Olympic swimmers. He currently holds the world records in the 200-meter individual medley. As part of the American teams, he also holds the world record in the 4×200-meter freestyle and 4x100-meter freestyle (mixed) relay.

Michael Fred Phelps II is an American former competitive swimmer and the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 28 medals. Phelps also holds the all-time records for Olympic gold medals (23), Olympic gold medals in individual events (13), and Olympic medals in individual events (16). When he won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games, Phelps broke fellow American swimmer Mark Spitz's 1972 record of seven first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Phelps had already tied the record of eight medals of any color at a single Games by winning six gold and two bronze medals. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Phelps won four gold and two silver medals, and at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he won five gold medals and one silver. This made him the most successful athlete of the Games for the fourth Olympics in a row.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, he competed in the men's 400 m individual medley. He finished 25th in the heats and did not advance to the semi-final.

Sebastien Daniel Rousseau is a competition swimmer who has represented South Africa in three Summer Olympics and other international swimming championships. He is the South African record holder in the 400m Individual Medley (LCM) with a time of 4:11.11, which he achieved while winning the event at the 2013 U.S. Open. He competed in the 2009 and 2011 World Swimming Championships, in Rome and Shanghai respectively. He competed in the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi and Glasgow respectively. He competed in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay event at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 4 × 200 metre freestyle relay event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won bronze medals in the 400m individual medley, 200m butterfly, 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and 4 × 100 m medley relay. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, he competed in the 400 m individual medley where he finished 21st in the heats with a time of 4:18.72 and did not qualify for the final. He also competed in the 200 m butterfly where he finished 23rd in the heats with a time of 1:57.33 and did not qualify for the semifinals. He was part of South Africa's 4 × 200 m freestyle relay team that finished 10th in the heats and did not qualify for the final. Sebastien retired from competitive swimming following the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.
Daiya Seto is a Japanese competitive swimmer who swims in the individual medley, butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle events. He won the gold medal in the 400 meter individual medley at the 2012, 2014, and 2016 world short course championships, as well as at the 2013 and 2015 world long course championships. Seto holds the world records in the 200 meter butterfly and the 400 meter individual medley.
